County Board Of Supervisors
A board of supervisors is a governmental body that oversees the operation of county (United States), county government in the U.S. states of Arizona, California, Iowa, Mississippi, Virginia, and Wisconsin, as well as 16 counties in New York (state), New York. There are equivalent agencies in other states. Similar to a city council, a board of supervisors has Legislature, legislative, Executive (government), executive, and quasi-judicial powers. In United States local government, a consolidated city-county is formed when one or more cities and their surrounding county ( parish in Louisiana, borough in Alaska) merge into one unified jurisdiction.
