Robert Quinlan Costas (born March 22, 1952) is an American sportscaster who is known for his long tenure with NBC Sports, from 1980 through 2019. He has received 28 Emmy awards for his work and was the prime-time host of 12 Olympic Games from 1988 until 2016. He is currently employed by Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, where he does play-by-play and studio work for the MLB on TBS. He is also employed by MLB Network, where he does play-by-play and once hosted an interview show called ''Studio 42 with Bob Costas''. H. Jonathon Costas (born May 14, 1957) is the former mayor of Valparaiso, Indiana. He is a member of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, an elder law attorney, and a small business owner. He was elected mayor in 2003 and served until 2020. Costas is lead singer for the band The ConservaDellics and is an Ironman Triathlete. Early life Costas is the son of the late former State Senator William P. Costas, known locally for an eponymous supermarket chain. The family moved from Gary, Indiana to Valparaiso in 1972 and Costas graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1975. Σημίτης; born 23 June 1936), usually referred to as Costas Simitis or Kostas Simitis (Κώστας Σημίτης), is a Greek politician who served as Prime Minister of Greece and was leader of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) from 1996 to 2004. Costas Mandylor (born Konstantinos Theodosopoulos; 3 September 1965) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his role as Kenny in ''Picket Fences'' and for portraying Mark Hoffman in the ''Saw'' films. Early life Mandylor was born in Melbourne, the son of Greek immigrants from the Peloponnese region. Mandylor took a version of his mother's maiden name, citing his real name in Greek being too long. Costas Georgiou (; 1951 – 10 July 1976), also known by his alias Colonel Callan, was a Cypriot-born British mercenary executed in Angola following the Luanda Trial for activities during the civil war phase of the Angolan War of Independence. Early life Georgiou was born in Cyprus in 1951, when the island was a British Crown colony. His family moved to London in 1963. British military career Georgiou joined the British Army and served, at first with distinction, in 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment in Northern Ireland. He was credited as being one of the best marksmen in the unit. He later became involved with other paratroopers in an armed robbery on a Post Office on 18 February 1972. Costas Rigas ( el, Κώστας Ρήγας),(born March 29, 1944 in Greece), is a retired Greek pro basketball player, and a former pro basketball referee. Rigas is a member of the EuroLeague's 50 greatest contributors. In 2013, he was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame. Playing career Rigas played club basketball with Amyntas, in Greece. Costa's hummingbird (''Calypte costae'') is a bird species in the hummingbird family Trochilidae. It breeds in the arid region of the southwest United States and northwest Mexico; it winters in western Mexico. Taxonomy Costa's hummingbird was formally described by the French ornithologist Jules Bourcier in 1839 and given the binomial name ''Ornismya costae''. Bourcier chose the specific epithet to honour the French nobleman Louis Marie Pantaleon Costa, Marquis de Beauregard (1806–1864). The type locality is Magdalena Bay on the western coast of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Costa's hummingbird is now placed in the genus ''Calypte'' that was introduced in 1856 by John Gould. The species is monotypic: no subspecies are recognised.
