Costa Christo Kapothanasis
Costa Christo Kapothanasis is an American-born baseball player. He is a pitcher for the Panathinaikos Baseball Club which is a member team of the Greek Baseball League. He was 3-1 with a 6.29 ERA as a Division I freshman then improved to 2-2, 6.17 in his second campaign, and 4-3, 5.06 as a junior. He fell to 2-7, 6.68 his senior year. Kapothanasis then joined the Greek National Baseball team for the 2010 European Baseball Championshipgoing 1-3 with a win over Sweden. He beat Sweden in his debut but lost to Croatia, Germany (on a bases-loaded walk to Ludwig Glaser and the Netherlands. Kapothanasis also played for Greece in the 2012 European Baseball Championship, doing much better. He held the Greek lead with four appearances and tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings, getting the save in the 7th/8th place game over France. The French National Baseball team represents the French Federation of Baseball and Softball in international competitions, such as the World Baseball Classic, the European Baseball Championship, and the World Cup of Baseball. They are currently ranked 25th in the world. Roster History The history of the French team began in 1929 with their first official game against Spain in Barcelona with a 10–6 victory. 2014 European Baseball Championship
The 2014 European Baseball Championship was an international baseball tournament held in the Czech Republic and Germany. The defending champion Italy lost in the final to the Netherlands, who became champion for the 21st time. Qualification The top ten teams of the 2012 European Championship were qualified automatically for the tournament. 12 teams played a B-Level Qualifier from July 22 to 27, 2013. The American Association of Professional Baseball is an independent professional baseball league founded in 2005. It operates in the central United States and Canada, mostly in cities not served by Major League Baseball teams or their minor league affiliates. Joshua Schaub is the league commissioner. Pensacola Pelicans
The Pensacola Pelicans were a minor league baseball team based in Pensacola, Florida. In various incarnations, they played in three different independent baseball leagues (leagues unaffiliated with Major League Baseball) from 2002 to 2010. They played their games at Pelican Park. The initial incarnations Pelicans began play in 2002 as charter members of the new, independent Southeastern League. The league folded after the 2003 season, and team owner Quint Studer purchased a franchise in the Central Baseball League, moving the Pelicans to the new organization. When the CBL folded in 2004 the Pelicans joined the new American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. They won the Southeastern League championship in 2002.
