The Cortland Red Dragons (also known as the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons or the Cortland State Red Dragons) are composed of 23 teams representing the State University of New York at Cortland in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, and track and field. Jake Ceresna
Jacob Tanner Ceresna (born July 9, 1994) is an American football defensive end for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Cortland. Ceresna has also been a member of the New York Jets, Ottawa Redblacks, Edmonton Eskimos and New York Giants. College career Ceresna played one season for Southern Connecticut State before transferring to SUNY Cortland. He graduated from Cortland with a B.S. cum laude in exercise science in 2016. R-Kal K-Quan Truluck ( ; September 30, 1974 – November 29, 2019) was an American professional football player. Truluck died on November 29, 2019, due to complications from ALS and cancer. Dan Pitcher (born January 13, 1987) is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2020 to 2023. Ryan McCarthy was an American college football coach. He served the head football coach at Central Connecticut State University from 2019 to 2022. Early life A native of Wilder, Vermont, McCarthy earned a B.S. in physical education at State University of New York at Cortland, where he played as a quarterback for the Cortland Red Dragons. Coaching career Macarthy began his coaching career at Siena College in 2003. He then moved to the University at Albany, SUNY and served as assistant coach for 11 seasons. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played.
