Jasiel F. Correia II (born December 11, 1991) is a former mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts. He was arrested twice on charges related to fraud and extortion while in office. Defeated in the November 2019 mayoral election, his term expired on January 6, 2020. In May 2021, Correia was convicted of multiple federal charges in a trial held in Boston; on September 21, 2021, Correia was sentenced to six years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Veríssimo Correia Seabra (February 16, 1947 – October 6, 2004) was a Guinea-Bissau, Bissau-Guinean general, known for leading a coup that deposed Kumba Ialá on September 14, 2003. Early life Correia Seabra was born in the capital city, Bissau, on February 16, 1947. He belonged to the Papel people, Papel minority. In 1963, at the age of 16, Correia Seabra joined the Partido Africano da Independência da Guiné e Cabo Verde, African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) as a guerilla fighting against Portugal, Portuguese colonial rule. Hélia Correia (born 1949) is a Portuguese novelist, playwright, poet and translator. Early life Correia was born in Lisbon in February 1949, and raised in Mafra, her mother's home town. José Francisco Correia da Serra (6 June 1750 – 11 September 1823) was a Portuguese Abbot, polymath – philosopher, diplomat, politician and scientist. In some circumstances, he was also known as '' Abbé Correa.'' The plant genus Correa, native to Australia, is named in his honour.
