Cornelis Rol
Cornelis Rol (2 September 1877 – 31 January 1963) was a Dutch graphic artist, painter, lithographer and illustrator. He was best known for his participation in sixteen Verkade albums. Rol received his artistic education at the ''Tekenschool (Edam)'' and at the ''Rijksnormaalschool voor Teekenonderwijzers'' (Amsterdam). He later became a drawing teacher at the Applied Arts Quellinusschool Amsterdam. He lived and worked in Edam, Amsterdam, The Hague until 1929 and then in Voorburg. Royal Verkade (Dutch: Koninklijke Verkade) is a Dutch manufacturing company, owned by a Turkish conglomerate. Quellinusschool
The Quellinusschool or ''Kunstnijverheidsschool Quellinus'', was a school for sculptors in Amsterdam named after the Quellinus family of sculptors, founded in 1877. It was founded as the ''Teekenschool voor Kunstambachten'' (Drawing school for art crafts) by Pierre Cuypers and Eduard Colinet in the workshop of the Rijksmuseum during the building of that institution, which itself contains several large sculptures and was intended to rival the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, which itself is full of works by the Quellinus family. Voorburg
Voorburg is a town and former municipality in the west part of the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Together with Leidschendam and Stompwijk, it makes up the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. It has a population of about 39,000 people. Onze Kunst Van Heden
Onze Kunst van Heden (Contemporary Artists/Our Art of Today) was an exhibition held in the winter of 1939 through 1940 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Due to the threat of invasion in the years leading up to World War II, the Netherlands' government stored many items from the Rijksmuseum's permanent collection. The resulting empty gallery space was utilized by contemporary Dutch artists to exhibit and sell their art. It was organized by the director of the Rijksmuseum . The show was open to all artists, with each artist allowed to enter four pieces. 902 artists exhibited 3,200 works of art in 74 rooms and cabinets of the Rijksmuseum. Henricus Rol
Henricus Rol (23 June 1906 – 29 August 1992) was a Dutch people, Dutch graphic artist who made paintings, watercolors and drawings. He was the son of graphic artist Cornelis Rol (1887–1963) and was an apprentice of his father. Rol went to the Academy of Fine Arts in the The Hague, Hague where he studied with Henk Meijer.
