Corb (river)
The Corb river (Catalan: ''el riu Corb'' or ''el Riucorb'') is a small river in Catalonia, Spain. It rises at a spring near the village of Rauric, just west of the town of Santa Coloma de Queralt in central Catalonia, flows westwards past the villages of Llorac, Vallfogona de Riucorb, Guimerà, Ciutadilla, Nalec, Rocafort de Vallbona, Sant Martí de Maldà, Maldà, Belianes, then veers northwards across the plain where it disappears into a network of irrigation canals. Its original course collects water again near the town of Bellpuig, then flows west until it joins the river Segre at Vilanova de la Barca, north-east of Lleida city. Vallfogona De Riucorb
Vallfogona de Riucorb () is a municipality and village in the ''comarca'' of the Conca de Barberà in central Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the Comalats range in the north of the ''comarca'', with the Cap de Cans rising to 759 m. Vallfogona village is built on the south bank of the Corb river. It is known for the medicinal mineral water that flows from a local spring, and for the priest and Baroque poet Francesc Vicent Garcia (1579-1623), "El Rector de Vallfogona." Garcia wrote mostly satirical verse, and was acquainted with notable authors of the time such as Lope de Vega. He ordered the construction of the chapel of Santa Bàrbara in 1617. History The first historical reference to Vallfogona records the founding of the parish in 1123 after its reconquest from the Moors, who had called it Vall d'Alfes. Bellpuig
Bellpuig () is a town in the ''comarca'' (county) of l'Urgell in Catalonia, Spain. Nowadays Bellpuig is the third most important town in the area of Urgell. The town, located between the three little hills appearing in the flag, is served by Bellpuig railway station. People Bellpuig in 1487 was the birthplace of Ramón de Cardona, Baron of Bellpuig, Count of Alvito and Duke of Somma (in Catalan Ramon Folc III de Cardona-Anglesola). He was a Catalan general of the Holy League troops and viceroy of Naples from 1509 to 1522. His funeral monument is in Bellpuig, where the body was transported nine years after his death on 10 March 1522.
