Copperbelt South
Copperbelt South is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Yukon in Canada. It is an amalgamation of the former ridings of Mount Lorne and Copperbelt. It is bordered by the ridings of Riverdale South, Copperbelt North, Takhini-Kopper King, and Mount Lorne-Southern Lakes. The district comprises the rural-residential subdivisions of southern Whitehorse, Yukon: Mary Lake; Cowley Creek; Wolf Creek; Pineridge; Golden Horn; Mount Sima; MacRae; and Whitehorse Copper. The district was first contested in the 2011 election. 2011 Yukon General Election
The 2011 general election in Yukon, Canada, took place on October 11, 2011, to return members to the 33rd Yukon Legislative Assembly. The incumbent government was led by Darrell Pasloski, who was elected as leader of the Yukon Party at a convention on May 28, 2011, replacing former Premier Dennis Fentie. The Yukon Party won its third majority government, with Elizabeth Hanson's NDP becoming the Official Opposition, replacing the Liberal Party, whose leader Arthur Mitchell was unable to return to the Assembly. Lois Moorcroft
Lois Moorcroft (born August 21, 1954) is a Canadian politician, who represented the electoral districts of Mount Lorne (1992-2000) and Copperbelt South (2011-2016) in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. She is a member of the Yukon New Democratic Party. Early career Moorcroft was born in Oshawa, Ontario, and grew up in Whitby, Ontario. She studied history at Trent University in Peterborough where she earned a bachelor's degree. Prior to entering territorial politics, Moorcroft served as a librarian at Yukon College's Whitehorse campus. She also served on the Yukon Employment Standards Board and has held positions on the boards of the Yukon College Employees' Union and the Yukon Federation of Labour. Whitehorse () is the capital of Yukon, and the largest city in Northern Canada. It was incorporated in 1950 and is located at kilometre 1426 (Historic Mile 918) on the Alaska Highway in southern Yukon. Whitehorse's downtown and Riverdale areas occupy both shores of the Yukon River, which rises in British Columbia and meets the Bering Sea in Alaska. Mount Lorne-Southern Lakes is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Yukon in Canada. It was one of the Yukon's eight rural ridings. The district was first contested in the 2011 election. It was created by merging most of the former districts of Mount Lorne and Southern Lakes.
