Copa Venezuela
The Copa Venezuela ( en, Venezuela Cup) is the national cup football competition of Venezuela. Organized by the Venezuelan Football Federation, it is contested in the second half of the season by the teams in the Venezuelan Primera División, Primera División and Venezuelan Segunda División, Segunda División, excluding reserve teams competing in the lower tier. Over the years, the competition has had several names. Under its current format, the competition was revived by the FVF in 2007. Its format is similar to the one used for the Spanish Copa del Rey. The champion qualifies to the Copa Sudamericana. Trujillanos Fútbol Club
Trujillanos Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football team playing at the top level, the Primera División Venezolana. It is based in Valera. Their home stadium is Estadio Luis Loreto Lira. At the end of the 2006–2007 season Trujillanos finished in the relegation places but the club won a reprieve when the Primera División Venezolana decided to expand from 10 to 18 teams, thus allowing the two teams in the relegation places to remain in the league. Caracas Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football team based in Caracas. The club has won twelve First Division titles making it the most successful in Venezuelan football history. They are nicknamed ''Los Rojos del Ávila'', or the "Reds from Ávila". This refers to their red jerseys as well as Cerro El Ávila, a mountain near Caracas. History Early Years Caracas FC was founded in 1967 under a group of friends led by José Berascasa and Jorge Cubeddu with the name Yamaha FC. The team was entered as an amateur team to the Football Federation of the State of Miranda. Asociación Civil Club Deportivo Mineros de Guayana, known as Mineros de Guayana or simply Mineros, is a professional football club based in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. History The Colegio Loyola Gumilla's field, located in Puerto Ordaz, was used in football matches. The people who played at the field decided to found a football club. On November 11, 1981, the club was founded as Club Deportivo Mineros de Guayana. On November 20, 1981, the club's foundation constitutive act was signed. Deportivo Galicia
Deportivo Galicia Fútbol Club (later Galicia de Aragua) was a traditional football club from Venezuela. Founded in Caracas, the club moved, in 2002, to Maracay, in the state of Aragua, when its name changed to Galicia de Aragua, playing their home games at the Giuseppe Antonelli stadium in Maracay. Coached by the Uruguayan national Carlos MarÍa Ravel, the team switched from their traditional blue and white colours to the state's yellow and red and changed their name to Galicia de Aragua. At the end of the 2001–02 season, Deportivo Galicia was relegated to the Venezuelan Segunda Division. In January 2002 they became a separate entity Aragua F.C. when they moved to Estadio Olímpico Hermanos Ghersi Páez. Lara Fútbol Club
The Lara Fútbol Club was a professional football club based in Barquisimeto, Lara, that was promoted to the Primera División in 1965, in their first year of existence. In 2012, due to strong financial problems, the team moved to the city of Los Teques, and subsequently to Caracas and changed its name to Metropolitanos Fútbol Club. Metropolitanos currently plays in the Venezuelan Primera División. History In the 1965 Copa Venezuela, the club was defeated by Valencia in the finals. In the 1966 Copa Libertadores, the club participated in the Group A with Boca Juniors, River Plate, Universitario, Deportivo Italia, and Alianza Lima, and was the last place with only four points.
