The FEF President Cup () was the name of two football competitions held in Spain in the 1940s, both officially recognized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who even donated a trophy for the second tournament. There are two different tournaments, the first was held in 1940, as a consolation tournament for clubs from the Segunda División, which was won by Club Deportivo Malacitano (currently known as Málaga CF), while the second was created as a replacement for the so-called Iberian Cup, and which was contested by First Division teams and won by Atlético de Madrid. Royal Spanish Football Federation
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (; RFEF) is the governing body of football in Spain. Founded on 29 September 1913, it is based in La Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas de Madrid, Las Rozas, a municipality near Madrid. RFEF organizes the national cup competitions (Copa del Rey, Copa de S.M. el Rey and Supercopa de España) and administers the competition committee of the Campeonato Nacional de Liga (La Liga, Primera División and Segunda División), including the handling of the trophy, even though they are organized by Liga de Fútbol Profesional, LaLiga. Carlos Basabe
Carlos Pedro Basabe Tovar (10 June 1924 – 28 August 1994) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Atlético Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Real Oviedo. In total, he scored 31 goals in 103 La Liga matches. He was also a military champion in the 100 metres. Early life Carlos Basabe was born on 10 June 1924 in Deusto, Biscay, as the son of Carlos Basabe (1905–83), a footballer who played for Athletic Bilbao and Real Zaragoza. Career Basabe began his career in 1943, aged 19, at his hometown clubs Barakaldo, then in the Segunda División, from which he joined Cultural de Durango, where he played the 1944–45 season in the Tercera División. The Copa de los Campeones de España was a Spanish football competition, held once in September 1940 as a two-legged game between Club Atlético-Aviación (1939–40 La Liga winners) and RCD Español de Barcelona (1940 Copa del Generalísimo winners). The first leg on 1 September was a 3–3 draw at the Sarrià Stadium in Barcelona, while the second two weeks later at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas was a 7–1 victory for Atlético, who were tenants at the ground following the destruction of their stadium in the Spanish Civil War. It was the first super cup in Spanish football, however this competition is considered of a friendly nature and therefore unofficial; a view also shared by the Spanish football historian Ricardo Uribarri. The Copa Federación Centro (), or the Castilian Federation Cup, was a football competition contested by the best clubs from Central Spain (which encompassed Madrid and the wider Castile region). It was the second-tier competition for the said region after the Campeonato Regional Centro. The competition was formed and reformed numerous times in its 20-year-history between 1923 and 1943, going from a knock-out format to a league mode of all against all. Throughout the editions, the Castilian Cup took different names.
