Coordinadora Nacional De Derechos Humanos
Coordinadora Nacional de Derechos Humanos (CNDDHH, National Coordinator for Human Rights) is a coalition of human rights groups in Peru founded in 1985. Members of the CNDDHH served on Peru's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. It has acted as the spokesperson for Peru's human rights movement since its founding. History During the internal conflict in Peru, it communicated regularly with international human rights groups, foreign diplomats, and the United Nations. The CNDDHH was also involved with responding to human rights concerns during the events of the 2020 and the 2022–2023 Peruvian political protests. Human Rights Group
A human rights group, or human rights organization, is a non-governmental organization which advocates for human rights through identification of their violation, collecting incident data, its analysis and publication, promotion of public awareness while conducting institutional advocacy, and lobbying to halt these violations. Internal Conflict In Peru
The internal conflict in Peru is an ongoing armed conflict between the Government of Peru and the Marxism–Leninism–Maoism, Maoist guerilla group Shining Path. The conflict began on 17 May 1980, and from 1982 to 1997 the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement waged its own insurgency as a Marxist–Leninist rival to the Shining Path. It is estimated that there have been between 50,000 and 70,000 deaths, making it the bloodiest war in History of Peru, Peruvian history, since the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire, European colonization of the country. The high death toll includes many civilian casualties, due to deliberate targeting by many factions. Since 2000, the number of deaths has dropped significantly and recently the conflict has become dormant. 2020 Peruvian Protests
The 2020 Peruvian protests were a series of demonstrations sparked after the removal of President Martín Vizcarra that took place from 9 November to 17 November 2020. The controversial removal of Vizcarra was recognized as a coup d'état by many Peruvians, political analysts and media outlets in the country. Protests were registered in several cities of the country, to show their outrage at the president's vacancy and reject the inauguration of the president of Congress, Manuel Merino. Upon taking office, Merino formed a far-right government. The protests have been described as the largest demonstrations in Peru in the past two decades and are organized by grassroots groups of young Peruvians on social media. Pilar Coll Torrente ( Fonz, Huesca, January 30, 1929 - Lima, September 15, 2012) was a Spanish activist, missionary and lawyer recognized for her commitment in favor of human rights and the search for justice for thousands of detainees disappeared during the internal armed conflict in Peru. She was the first Executive Secretary of the National Coordinator of Human Rights. Susana Villarán
Susana María del Carmen Villarán de la Puente is a centre-left politician in Peru, a former presidential candidate, and in municipal elections in 2010 became the first woman to be elected Mayor of Lima. She is vice president of the Decentralist Social Force Party (', FS) and formerly worked as a journalist and a secondary school teacher. Personal life Born in Lima on 16 August 1949.
