Coon Rapids High School (CRHS) is a public high school in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 and participates in the University of Minnesota's College in the Schools program. Academics The Coon Rapids Center for Biomedical Sciences and Engineering program is a specialty program within the school. The program was launched in 2013 and consists of hands-on math, science, medical, and engineering courses using Project Lead the Way curriculum. Students can enroll in college-level courses through Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). This program allows high school students to experience college coursework without paying college tuition fees. Coon Rapids, Minnesota
Coon Rapids is a northern suburb of Minneapolis, and is the largest city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 63,599 at the 2020 census, making it the fifteenth largest city in Minnesota and the seventh largest Twin Cities suburb. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and is water. Recreational lakes in the city include Cenaiko Lake and Crooked Lake, two-thirds of which is in Coon Rapids. The other third is in the city of Andover, immediately to the north. Zack Stephenson
Zack Stephenson is an American politician and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represents District 35A in the northwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area. Early life, education, and career Stephenson was born and raised in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 2002. He attended Knox College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in public policy analysis in 2006, and the University of Chicago Law School, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 2010. Logan Michael Shore (born December 28, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He previously played college baseball for the Florida Gators. Amateur career Shore attended Meadow Creek Christian School in Andover, Minnesota until 9th grade, when he began attending Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. As a senior, he was the Minnesota Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year after going 9–0 with a 0.27 earned run average (ERA) as well as a .429 batting average. Branden Petersen
Branden Petersen (born February 4, 1986) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represented District 35, which includes portions of Anoka County in the northern Twin Cities metropolitan area. Thomas James Copa (born October 30, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player. After graduating from Marquette he went on to play professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and in Europe. Born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, he was named Minnesota Mr. Basketball in 1983. College career Copa played college basketball for Marquette Warriors from 1983 to 1987. The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) is a voluntary, non-profit association for the support and governance of interscholastic activities at high schools in Minnesota, United States. The association supports interscholastic athletics and fine arts programs for member schools. Membership includes nearly 500 schools, including special schools, home schools, and 435 high schools. Post Secondary Enrollment Options
Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is an academic option open to high school seniors, juniors and sophomores in various US states, such as Minnesota, Ohio and Washington. The options allow students to take courses at the college level. It is possible for a student to graduate with both an associate's degree and a high school diploma at the same time via PSEO. The PSEO program was created in 1985 by Minnesota, and later adopted by Ohio's Department of Education PSEO enables 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to fulfill their high school graduation requirements while earning college credit at Minnesota colleges and universities!
