Conway, South Carolina
Conway is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 24,849 at the 2020 census, up from 17,103 in 2010 census. It is the county seat of Horry County and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. It is the home of Coastal Carolina University. Numerous buildings and structures located in Conway are on the National Register of Historic Places. Among these is the City Hall building, designed by Robert Mills, architect of the Washington Monument. Since the completion of the Main Street USA project in the 1980s, Conway's downtown has been revitalized with shops and bistros. Sheri Reynolds
Sheri Reynolds (born c. 1967) is an author of contemporary Southern fiction. She was born and raised in rural South Carolina and lives on Virginia's eastern shore. She graduated from Conway High School in 1985, Davidson College in 1989, and Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. She is an associate professor and the Ruth and Perry Morgan Chair of Southern Literature at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Reynolds teaches creative writing and literature classes. She won the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council for Higher Education of Virginia in 2003, and in 2005, she received a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts in playwriting. She has also taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, The College of William and Mary, and Davidson College. George F. "Buddy" Sasser is a former American football coach and athletics administrator. As commissioner of the Big South Conference between 1989 and 1996, Sasser was responsible for increasing membership, gaining automatic bids to the NCAA basketball tournament and adding basketball television exposure for the conference. Biography Born in Conway, South Carolina, Sasser played college football for the University of North Carolina Tarheels earning two letters, the last in 1956. Sasser served as athletic director and head football coach at Conway High School from 1963 to 1970, leading the Tigers to a 66–17–5 record. Perry Richardson
Perry Richardson (born July 7, 1958) is an American bass guitarist who played in FireHouse until 2000 and is currently the bassist of Stryper. Biography Perry Richardson graduated Conway High School in Conway, South Carolina and went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina/Coastal Carolina in 1980 with Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Richardson met C. J. Snare in North Carolina and started a band called Maxx Warrior. Eventually they met with Bill Leverty and Michael Foster (who were playing with a band called White Heat). The four got together in Charlotte and started FireHouse in 1989. While with the band, they sold over 7 million albums worldwide and won an American Music Award in 1991 for "Favorite New Artist Heavy Metal/Hard Rock". Horry County Schools (HCS) is a public school district serving Horry County, South Carolina and is the third-largest school district in South Carolina. Allen Patrick (born February 15, 1984) is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Harrison Grant Holmes (born March 22, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Atlanta Braves organization.
