Conway High School (Arkansas)
Conway High School is a comprehensive public school in Conway, Arkansas, United States. Conway High School serves over 2,000 students and is administered by the Conway School District. The school has been nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and has won 50 state championships in numerous interscholastic sports. History Established in 1928, the original buildings of Conway High School served the surrounding community until new facilities were built in 1937 at the corner of Prince St and Davis St. A cafeteria was added in 1948 and a gymnasium in 1949. The cafeteria was demolished in 1961. Conway, Arkansas
Conway is a city in the U.S. state of Arkansas and the county seat of Faulkner County, located in the state's most populous Metropolitan Statistical Area, Central Arkansas. Although considered a suburb of Little Rock, Conway is unusual in that the majority of its residents do not commute out of the city to work. The city also serves as a regional shopping, educational, work, healthcare, sports, and cultural hub for Faulkner County and surrounding areas. JROTC
The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC -- commonly pronounced "JAY-rotsee") is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and at US military bases across the world. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act. The 1985 Holiday Bowl was a college football bowl game played December 22, 1985, in San Diego, California. It was part of the 1985 NCAA Division I-A football season. It featured the unranked Arizona State Sun Devils, and the 14th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. It was the first Holiday Bowl game since its inception to not feature BYU. Scoring summary Arizona State scored first on a 47-yard field goal from Kent Bostrom taking a 3–0 lead. Arkansas's Derrick Thomas responded by rushing 9 yards for a touchdown, as the Razorbacks claimed a 7–3 lead. That would conclude the 1st quarter of scoring. Greg Lasker (born September 28, 1964) is a former American football defensive back who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and Phoenix Cardinals. Peyton Derek Hillis (born January 21, 1986) is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL). Hillis attended Conway High School in Conway, Arkansas and was a highly touted recruit. Hillis attended the University of Arkansas where he was primarily used as a fullback. After being drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Hillis rose to the top of the depth chart as the starting fullback for the Denver Broncos. Due to injuries to the running back corps, he became the starting running back. After spending two years in Denver, Hillis was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2010. Marvin Delph
Marvin Delph (born September 15, 1956) is a retired African American basketball player, who experienced his greatest success at the college level. In high school, Delph led the Conway Wampus Cats to two state basketball championships, in 1973 and 1974. Known for his outside shooting and remarkable leaping ability, Delph was a member of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks NCAA Final Four team in 1978. Along with Sidney Moncrief and Ron Brewer, he was labeled as one of the "Triplets", a trio of Arkansas-born, similarly-sized players who led Arkansas basketball through a tremendous resurgence after years of mediocre play. Following his college career, Delph was drafted twice, first in the 3rd round of the 1978 NBA draft by the Buffalo Braves and then in the 6th round of the 1979 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.
