Arkansas Activities Association
The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) is the primary sanctioning body for high school sports in state of Arkansas. AAA is a member association of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFSHSA). Every public secondary school in Arkansas is a de jure member of the AAA, and most private schools, save for a few schools in the delta that belong to the Mississippi Private Schools Association and 22 Christian schools who belong to the Heartland Christian Athletic Association , are included in membership. The Arkansas Activities Association, or "AAA," was founded in 1904 by seven high schools and colleges and was called the "Arkansas State Athletic Association." In 1912, the high schools separated from the colleges and became the "Arkansas Athletics Association." Membership increased rapidly, and eventually the name of the organization was changed to the "Arkansas Activities Association". Fayetteville High School (Arkansas)
Fayetteville High School is a public high school located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The school is administered by the Fayetteville Public Schools headed by Dr. John L Colbert. The district, and by extension, Fayetteville High's attendance boundary, includes the majority of Fayetteville as well as the majorities of Goshen and Johnson and sections of Elkins and Farmington. History The school was first opened in 1908, and the previous building was built in 1950 with further renovations made in the 1990s. Phase 1 of the current building opened in 2012, Phase 2 in 2013, Phase 3 in 2014, and the final phase opening in 2015. Central Arkansas Christian Schools (CAC) is a group of three private schools based in North Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. CAC was established in 1971 at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ in Sherwood, Arkansas. Because of its foundation date, the school has been categorized as a segregation academy although enrollment records indicate black students were enrolled in the school as early as 1974. The Central Arkansas Christian School system includes a combination middle and high school campus in North Little Rock and two elementary schools: a campus in Pleasant Valley/Little Rock and a campus in North Little Rock. Together, they composed the state's fourth-largest combined private school for the 2018-19 school year. Sylvan Hills High School
Sylvan Hills High School is an accredited comprehensive public high school located in the city of Sherwood, Arkansas, United States, serving grades nine through twelve. Sylvan Hills is one of four high schools administered by the Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD). Prior to 1956, Sylvan Hills School instructed students through grade nine until local citizens gathered to approve expanding the school to a senior high, resulting in its first graduating class in 1959. Then, because of the increasing population in the surrounding communities, the school moved to its current campus adjacent to its former facilities starting in the 1968–69 school year. Billy Bock
Billy Bock (April 30, 1935 – July 8, 2003) was an American college and high school baseball coach, who led his high school teams to a nine state championships across four decades while never having a losing season. Billy Bock of Pine Bluff died of cancer Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He attended Holy Redeemer Elementary School and graduated from Subiaco Academy. He received his bachelor's degree from College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, and a master's degree in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Playing career Billy graduated from Subiaco Academy in 1954 as a four-year letterman in football, basketball, baseball, track and tennis and a five-year letterman in boxing. He won all-district and all-state honors and in his junior year, won the Coury Cup that recognizes the school's best all-around athlete. Baseball In Arkansas
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". The objective of the defensive team (referred to as the fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners' advance around the bases.
