History The East River Valley where Crested Butte is located was once used as a summer residence by the Ute people. However, they were quickly displaced when European-Americans first entered the area. The first white people to explore the valley were beaver trappers, shortly followed by surveyors. James Tipton
James Allen Tipton is an American politician and Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from Kentucky's 53rd House district since January 2015. His district consists of Anderson and Spencer counties. He currently serves as chair of the House Standing Committee on Education. Background Tipton is a native of Spencer County, Kentucky, and graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1977. He would go on to attend the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science in agriculture in 1981 and a Master of Science in vocational education in 1985. Gunnison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,918. The county seat is Gunnison. The county was named for John W. Gunnison, a United States Army officer and captain in the Army Topographical Engineers, who surveyed for the transcontinental railroad in 1853.
