James Tipton
James Allen Tipton is an American politician and Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from Kentucky's 53rd House district since January 2015. His district consists of Anderson and Spencer counties. He currently serves as chair of the House Standing Committee on Education. Background Tipton is a native of Spencer County, Kentucky, and graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1977. He would go on to attend the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science in agriculture in 1981 and a Master of Science in vocational education in 1985. Outside of politics, Tipton has been employed as a realtor for 25 years and is currently the principal broker for Premier Realtor LLC. Bart Rowland (born April 11, 1977) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing District 21 since the February 7, 2012 special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Representative James Comer. The 2018 Kentucky House of Representatives elections were held on November 6, 2018, as part of the biennial United States elections. All 100 of Kentucky's state representatives were up for reelection. In Kentucky, members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms. Accordingly, they are up for reelection in both presidential and midterm election years. Democrats, who had long been the dominant party at the state level in Kentucky, held a majority in the state house from 1922 to 2017. In 2016, Republicans made large gains in the chamber, winning a majority of 64 seats. Spencer County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the total population was 19,490. Its county seat is Taylorsville. The county was founded in 1824 and named for Spier Spencer. Spencer County is part of the Louisville/Jefferson County, KY— IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Taylorsville Lake, located primarily within Spencer County, serves as a major economic resource for the area. Spencer was a dry county until 2009 when the county's residents voted to overturn the ban on alcohol sales.
