Continents (band)
Continents is a Welsh metalcore band. The band were signed to Victory Records in 2012 before parting ways with the label in 2017 before the release "Preacher", and have toured with acts including The Ghost Inside, Emmure, Comeback Kid, Defeater and All Shall Perish. They returned in 2022 with the single Bad Blood. Continents are known for their high energy live performances which saw the band perform throughout the UK, Europe and Japan. In 2012 the band were featured on the YouTube homepage as a featured band and highlighted by Alternative Press Magazine (US) as one of their top 20 bands to look out for in 2013. Continents announced their return in 2022 with the release of singles 'Bad Blood' and 'Clarity' along with a return to live performances supporting Counterparts at Throwfest 2022. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Death growls and gang vocals are common. 1990s metalcore bands were inspired by hardcore while later metalcore bands were inspired by melodic death metal bands like At the Gates and In Flames. Comeback Kid (band)
Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in March 2001 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band currently consists of vocalist Andrew Neufeld, guitarists Jeremy Hiebert and Stu Ross, bassist Chase Brenneman and drummer Loren Legare. Since its formation, the band have released seven studio albums and seventeen music videos. Their seventh studio album, ''Heavy Steps'', was released in January 2022. Casey are a Welsh rock band formed in South Wales, United Kingdom in 2014. The band formed shortly after vocalist Tom Weaver and guitarist Liam Torrance left previous projects, Continents and ''Hot Damn'' respectively. Originally formed as a studio band under the name Well Wisher, Weaver and Torrance later recruited Toby Evans, Max Nicolai, and Scott Edwards, and began producing material with the intention of performing live. After a brief hiatus while Weaver auditioned to join the band Northlane, the name Well Wisher was dropped, and the band relaunched under the name Casey. The name is derived from both Weaver's love of the album ''Casey'' by The Rise of Science, and also Torrance's tribute to the late Hawthorne Heights guitarist, Casey Calvert. ''Rock Sound'' is a British magazine that covers rock music. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to better-known acts. All Shall Perish was an American deathcore band from Oakland, California, formed in 2002. The band was signed to Nuclear Blast and have released four full-length albums through the label. Their final album, ''This Is Where It Ends,'' was released on July 26, 2011. All Shall Perish are noted for being one of the earliest pioneering bands in the deathcore genre. Defeater is an American melodic hardcore band from Massachusetts, formed in 2004 within the Boston hardcore scene. To date they have released five full-length albums, two EPs and three singles. The band lineup consists of Derek Archambault (vocals), Jake Woodruff (guitar), Joe Longobardi (Drum kit, drums) and Mike Poulin (Bass guitar, bass). Emmure
Emmure () is an American metalcore band formed in 2003. Originally based in New Fairfield, Connecticut, before moving to Queens, New York, the group has released eight albums, with their first public release being a 2006 EP entitled ''The Complete Guide to Needlework''. Victory Records has worked with the band throughout most of their career, starting with ''Goodbye to the Gallows'' (2007). Their second, third and fourth albums ''The Respect Issue'' (2008), ''Felony'' (2009) and ''Speaker of the Dead'' (2011) were all distributed through Victory as well.
