Context. Diana Vishneva is an annual international festival of modern choreography, held since 2013 under the direction of its founder and art director, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater Diana Vishneva. The program of the festival includes performances by world-class choreographers and dance companies, productions by young Russian choreographers, educational events and a film program. History 2013 The first festival Context. Diana Vishneva was held from 4 to 6 December 2013 in Moscow. Diana Vishneva’s performance in a duet with Marcelo Gomes, a premiere of the American Ballet Theatre, became the key event of the festival. They performed Vertigo choreographed by Mauro Bigonzetti to the music of Shostakovich and Nuages by Jiří Kylián to the music of Claude Debussy. Itzik Galili
Itzik Galili (born 1961 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli choreographer. Career After having been a member of the Bat Sheva Dance Company and Bat Dor Dance Company in his country, he moved to the Netherlands in 1991, where he founded his own company. The Dutch Ministry of Culture nominated him in 1997 as Artistic Director of a new company with public funding, NND/Galili Dance based in Groningen. In 2009, he moved to Amsterdam, invited by the newly appointed city Company of Amsterdam for contemporary dance: Dansgroep Amsterdam (DGA) as co-artistic director together with Kristina de Chatel. Martha Graham
Martha Graham (May 11, 1894 – April 1, 1991) was an American modern dancer and choreographer. Her style, the Graham technique, reshaped American dance and is still taught worldwide. Graham danced and taught for over seventy years. She was the first dancer to perform at the White House, travel abroad as a cultural ambassador, and receive the highest civilian award of the US: the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction. In her lifetime she received honors ranging from the Key to the City of Paris to Japan's Imperial Order of the Precious Crown. Gogol Center
The Gogol Center, formerly Gogol Theatre, is a multi-use arts complex in Moscow that was home to Russia's leading avant-garde theater. In June 2022 it was closed down by the Russian Government, along with an announcement that it would be renamed Nikolai Gogol Drama Theatre. Starting life as a theatre company called Drama and Comedy Theatre in 1925, the theatre has undergone a succession of renamings, including Moscow Theatre of Transport and Central Theatre of Transport, as the company originally served railway workers. Mossovet State Academic Theatre (Государственный академический театр имени Театр Моссовета) is one of the oldest theatres of Moscow, opened in 1923 and based at Bolshaya Sadovaya, 16.
