Contemporary Architecture In Cluj-Napoca
Since 1989, modern skyscrapers and glass-fronted hotels have altered the skyline of Cluj-Napoca, a city in the Transylvanian region of Romania. Banks The Cluj-Napoca regional headquarters of the Banca Română pentru Dezvoltare (BRD) ( Romanian Bank for Development) was completed in 1997 after 4 years of work. It is the second tallest building in Cluj-Napoca (the tallest one being West City Tower), 50 m or 164 feet. Its 12 stories house offices for the bank and for divisions of several other companies, including insurance and oil companies. Another architecturally interesting building is the unfinished headquarters of the Banca Agricole (Agricultural Bank), held in the custody of the city due to the failure of that bank and its subsequent purchase by the Reiffeisen Bank. Work ceased in 2000; all that was finished was the exterior, built by the ''Abatech'' firm. Ion Țiriac
Ion Țiriac (; born 9 May 1939), also known as the "Brașov Bulldozer", is a Romanian businessman and former professional tennis and ice hockey player. He has been president of the Romanian Tennis Federation. A former singles top 10 player on the ATP Tour, he was active from 1958 to 1979 and won 34 career singles titles. Tiriac was the winner of one grand slam title, the 1970 French Open in men's doubles. Țiriac was the first man to play against a woman and defeat her, in a sanctioned tennis tournament (against Abigail Maynard, in 1975). The highlight of his ice hockey career was participating as a defenseman in the Romanian national team at the 1964 Winter Olympics. Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport is an airport serving the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Initially known as ''Someșeni Airport'', it is located east of the city centre, in the Someșeni area, which is now within the Cluj-Napoca city limits. Florești (known as ''Feneșu Săsesc'' until 1924; ; ) is a commune in Cluj County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Florești, Luna de Sus (''Magyarlóna''), and Tăuți (''Kolozstótfalu'') and is part of the Cluj-Napoca metropolitan area, being located less than west of Cluj-Napoca on DN1.
