Container Cup
The Container Cup is a TV program developed by Woestijnvis and broadcast by Belgian TV channel Vier. The first season aired between 26 April 2020 and 28 May 2020. In the format, 32 professional sporters had to finish a series of seven sporting events, organised in a container, in the least amount of time. The eventual winner of the first season was Mathieu van der Poel, with Hanne Claes the fastest woman. Some so-called "Famous Flemings" (former sportspeople, TV presenters, ...) also participated. The concept was created and filmed in less than two months, when all official sporting events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The seven events were 1500m running, monkey bars, golf, 1000m rowing, shooting, bench press, and 3km cycling. The time needed for the running, rowing and cycling was added together. Woestijnvis
Woestijnvis (literally: ''Desert Fish'') is an independent Flemish television production company based in Vilvoorde. History The name of the company refers to a famous mistake of a quiz-candidate in the Flemish version of Wheel of Fortune: the remaining letters were W . . ST . . NV . S and the participant answered "WOESTIJNVIS" (''Desert Fish''), the correct answer was "WOESTIJNVOS" (''Desert Fox''). The company was founded in 1997 by Jan Huyse, Wouter Vandenhaute and Erik Watté in close collaboration with Mark Uytterhoeven. The company rose to fame with its series '' The Mole'', variants of which were recorded and broadcast in various countries. Woestijnvis is now part of the holding which owns the Belgian TV-stations VIER and VIJF. Woenstijnvis was also the producer of the session whereby the Holocaust was mocked using Cent Wafers whereafter the Belgian public TV, VRT had to present their excuses. Matthias Casse
Matthias Casse (born 19 February 1997) is a Belgian judoka who won the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In 2017, Matthias Casse became junior world champion in Zagreb, the first Belgian male judoka to achieve this since Johan Laats in 1986. That same year, he won his first judo Grand Prix medal at senior level, winning a bronze medal in the Hague. In 2019 he won the gold medal at the European Games (this also was the European judo championship) and at the Judo World Masters. After having won the Paris Grand Slam in 2020 he became the no. 1 on the world ranking in his category. Jorre Verstraeten
Jorre Verstraeten (born 4 December 1997) is a Belgian judoka. He won one of the bronze medals in the men's 60 kg event at the European Judo Championships in 2020 and 2022. He also won one of the bronze medals in the men's 60kg event at the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus. Career Verstraeten won one of the bronze medals in the boys' 55kg event at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics held in Nanjing, China. In his bronze medal match he defeated Gavin Mogopa of Botswana. He also competed in the mixed team event. In 2017, he competed in the men's 60kg event at the European Judo Championships held in Warsaw, Poland. Bart Swings (born 12 February 1991) is a Belgian long track speed skater and inline speed skater. He is the 2022 Olympic champion on the speed skating mass start. Swings won Belgium's first gold medal in 74 years and is the first Belgian athlete ever to have won two medals in the Winter Olympics. Career At his first world championship speed skating event, the 2011 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships in Inzell, Germany, he finished 17th in the 5000 m. Kevin Borlée
Kevin Borlée (; born 22 February 1988) is a Belgian sprinter, who specializes in the 400 metres. He is a member of the Borlée family. Borlée won bronze at the 2011 World Championships in the 400m. He qualified for the finals of the 400 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was also a semi-finalist at both the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2009 World Championships, and is the 2010 European Champion on this distance. Thomas Briels (born 23 August 1987) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Oranje-Rood. He played a total of 359 times for the Belgium national team from 2006 until 2021. Club career Briels started playing at Dragons when he was around five years old. Wout van Aert (born 15 September 1994) is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He won the men's elite race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He joined in March 2019, on a three-year deal after terminating his contract with in 2018. Arthur Georges Stanislas Henri Van Doren (born 1 October 1994) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Bloemendaal and the Belgium national team. He is the brother of fellow Belgian international Loic Van Doren. In 2017, he won simultaneously both FIH awards of FIH Player and FIH Rising Star of the Year.
