Conrad II Of Znojmo
Conrad II of Znojmo ( cz, Konrád II. Znojemský; d. 1161), a member of the Přemyslid dynasty, was a Bohemian prince who ruled in the Moravian principality of Znojmo from 1123 to 1128 and again from 1134 until his death. Life Conrad II was the son of Prince Luitpold of Znojmo and his wife Ida, a daughter of the Babenberg margrave Leopold II of Austria. Upon his father's death in 1112, Znojmo passed to his uncle Ulrich I of Brno, who died the next year. From 1115 onwards, both the Brno and Znojmo principalities in Moravia were held by Soběslav I, youngest son of the late King Vratislaus II of Bohemia. Finally, when Soběslav fell out with his elder brother Duke Vladislaus I of Bohemia in 1123, Conrad II was able to succeed his father in Znojmo. Znojmo Rotunda
The Rotunda of St. Catherine ( cz, Rotunda sv. Kateřiny), known as the Znojmo Rotunda (''Znojemská rotunda''), is a Romanesque architecture, Romanesque rotunda (architecture), rotunda located in Znojmo, Czech Republic. It is the town's most valuable monument, and features one of the oldest fresco-secco, fresco compositions in the Czech lands. Besides the religious motives, of particular importance is the praising portrayal of the ruling Přemyslid dynasty. The building was originally a castle chapel, dedicated to Virgin Mary, built in the mid-11th century. The painting was commissioned by Konrad II of Znojmo on the occasion of his wedding with Mary (''Marija''), daughter of Uroš I, Grand Prince of Serbia, Uroš I of Serbia in 1134. Vukanović Dynasty
The Vukanović dynasty ( sr-cyr, Вукановић, Vukanovići / Вукановићи), was a medieval Serbian dynasty that ruled over inner Serbia, centered in the Raška region ( la, Rascia), during the 11th and 12th century. Several members of the Vukanović dynasty also ruled in some other regions (Zachlumia, Travunia, Duklja, and also Croatia). The house may have descended from the Vojislavljević dynasty of Duklja. Vukanović dynasty was later succeeded in Serbia by the closely related Nemanjić dynasty. The Vukanović family was named by later historians, after its founder Vukan of Serbia. Hellicha of Wittelsbach ( cs, Hellicha z Wittelsbachu, german: Heilika von Wittelsbach; – 13 August 1198), was Duchess consort of Bohemia from 1189 to 1198, married to Duke Conrad II. Life She was born in Bavaria, the daughter of Count palatine Otto VII (d. 1189), himself a son of Count Otto IV of Wittelsbach, and his wife Benedicta, daughter of Count Mangold of Donauwörth. She and Conrad, then Duke of Znojmo, married before 1176, when she was about 16 years old and her husband was about 25 years her senior. Fresco (plural ''frescos'' or ''frescoes'') is a technique of mural painting executed upon freshly laid ("wet") lime plaster. Water is used as the vehicle for the dry-powder pigment to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall. Děpold I (also ''Děpolt'', modern English ''Theobald'') was the second son of Duke Vladislav I of Bohemia and brother of Duke and later King of Bohemia Vladislav II. In 1145, he joined the other territorial dukes of Bohemia, Conrad II of Znojmo, Vratislaus II of Brno, and Otto III of Olomouc, to attack Jindřich (Henry) Zdík, bishop of Olomouc, and chase him from his diocese.
