Conor Meechan
Conor Meechan (born 1993) is a Scottish film editor. He is best known for editing the film, The Groundsman which earned him the Best Editor accolade at the 2014 British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards. Life and career Conor studied Digital Film and Television at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. During his time there, he edited The Groundsman, the graduation film of fellow student Jonny Blair. His work on the film was widely praised and in 2014, he went on to win the Best Editor accolade at the 2014 British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards. He went on to study at the National Film and Television School where he won the Avid Award for Excellence in Editing for his work on the short film ''Fake News Fairytale''. East Kilbride
East Kilbride (; gd, Cille Bhrìghde an Ear ) is the largest town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland and the country's sixth-largest locality by population. It was also designated Scotland's first new town on 6 May 1947. The area lies on a raised plateau to the south of the Cathkin Braes, about southeast of Glasgow and close to the boundary with East Renfrewshire. River City
''River City'' is a Scottish television soap opera that was first broadcast on BBC One Scotland on 24 September 2002. ''River City'' follows the lives of the people who live and work in the fictional district of Shieldinch. In November 2017, a short crossover episode of the show was made for '' Children in Need'' and featured several of the show's characters meeting characters from Scottish sitcom ''Scot Squad''. In March 2020, production of ''River City'' was halted due to the COVID–19 pandemic, and filming recommenced in August 2020. British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards
The British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards are presented at an annual award ceremony organised by BAFTA Scotland. History In 2009, BAFTA Scotland held the very first British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards. The annual awards ceremony recognises, inspires and celebrates emerging practitioners from all over Scotland and gives up-and-coming talent a platform to showcase their work to industry. The ceremony has been held in various locations including the Glasgow Film Theatre and The Arches (Glasgow). Since 2012, Muriel Gray has been the host of the ceremony. Broadcaster Kaye Adams hosted in 2011. In 2012, Chris Quick of the Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance led a campaign to get the British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards recognised by IMDb. John McKay (director)
John McKay is a Scottish film and television director. His initial career was as a playwright, before he began his film career by directing the short films ''Doom and Gloom'' (1996) and ''Wet and Dry'' (1997). These short films gained McKay some notable acclaim – ''Wet and Dry'' was nominated in the "Best Short Fiction" category at the Molodist International Film Festival in Kyiv in 1997. ''The Demon Headmaster'' is a British television series based on the children's books by Gillian Cross of the same title. Made for CBBC, the drama was first broadcast on 14 October 2019, and is the second adaptation of the books, following the 1996 series. Nicholas Gleaves plays the titular character, a mysterious head teacher with strange powers and dreams of world domination. The series is a direct sequel of the original series, and features Charlotte Beckett and Sally Oliver as Dinah Hunter and Rose Carter, roles originally portrayed by Frances Amey and Kathryn Wyeth. Amey was approached to reprise the role of Dinah, though no longer acts, whilst Wyeth is based in Wellington, New Zealand. It has been renewed for a second series.
