Conmee, Ontario
Conmee is a township (Canada), township in the Canada, Canadian province of Ontario, located within the Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Thunder Bay District. The township was named after James Conmee (October 13, 1848 – July 23, 1913 - an Ontario businessman and political figure) and is part of the city of Thunder Bay's Census Metropolitan Area. Its main named settlements were the communities of Mokomon and Hume, now historical footnotes in Conmee's development. Conmee Township was home to a Summer solstice, Summer Solstice festival during the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s. Although the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere officially occurs around the 21st of June, Conmee's festival would take place over the "Victoria Day" long weekend, at a location colloquially known as "Mokomon's Farm", where people would set up tents in the fields and meadows, local folk and rock music bands would provide entertainment, and local crafts persons would display their art. The summer solstice, also called the estival solstice or midsummer, occurs when one of Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere ( Northern and Southern). O'Connor is a township in the Canadian province of Ontario, located west of the city of Thunder Bay. The municipality was formed on January 1, 1907. The township serves as a bedroom community of Thunder Bay, with some agriculture, and is part of Thunder Bay's Census Metropolitan Area. Oliver Paipoonge is a township in the Canadian province of Ontario, located directly west of the city of Thunder Bay. The municipality was formed on January 1, 1998, with the amalgamation of the former Township of Oliver and Township of Paipoonge. It contains several communities within its boundaries, including Baird, Carters Corners, Harstone, Kakabeka Falls, Lee, McCluskeys Corners, Millar, Murillo, Rosslyn, Slate River Valley, Stanley and Twin City. Canada 2016 Census
The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. The census, conducted by Statistics Canada, was Canada's seventh quinquennial census. The official census day was May 10, 2016. Census web access codes began arriving in the mail on May 2, 2016. The 2016 census marked the reinstatement of the mandatory long-form census, which had been dropped in favour of the voluntary National Household Survey for the 2011 census. With a response rate of 98.4%, this census is said to be the best one ever recorded since the 1666 census of New France. This census was succeeded by Canada's 2021 census.
