Confederation Of Tamil Nadu Malayalee Associations
The Confederation of Tamil Nadu Malayalee Associations, abbreviated CTMA, was formed on 12 November 1989 to bring all registered organisations of Malayalis in Tamil Nadu under a single roof so that a collective entity could be formed. The purpose of the organisation is to work out solutions to problems faced by Malayalis and to project and popularize the cultural and social identity of their native flavours in a different geographical area. CTMA is a conglomerate comprising over 100 Malayali associations across Tamil Nadu. It is involved in social activism, social support mediation and interventions on behalf of Malayalis, educational support services, and advisory and counselling services to the needy and the poor irrespective of their religious affinities or their economic/social status and look after the interests of the members as also to interact socially and culturally with the local population. Malayalam
Malayalam (; , ) is a Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (Mahé district) by the Malayali people. It is one of 22 scheduled languages of India. Malayalam was designated a "Classical Language of India" in 2013. Onam
Onam ( ) is an annual Indian harvest festival celebrated predominantly by the Hindus of Kerala. A major annual event for Keralites, it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events. Onam commemorates Vamana and King Mahabali. According to Hindu legends, Onam is celebrated in Kerala in remembrance of the good governance under the rule of daitya king Mahabali, a mythical king who once ruled Kerala. The legend holds that jealous of Mahabali's popularity and his power, the devas and gods conspired to end his reign. The World Malayalee Council ''( ml, ലോക മലയാളി പരിഷദ് Loka Malayali Parishad)'' or abbreviated as WMC was formed on July 3, 1995, in New Jersey. It was inaugurated at the first ever ''World Convention of Non Resident Malayalees''. The main objective of this organization is to provide a non-political forum to bring together the widely scattered community of people of Malayalee/ Keralite origin and strengthen the common bonds of culture, tradition and way of life.
