World Malayalee Council
The World Malayalee Council ''( ml, ലോക മലയാളി പരിഷദ് Loka Malayali Parishad)'' or abbreviated as WMC was formed on July 3, 1995, in New Jersey. It was inaugurated at the first ever ''World Convention of Non Resident Malayalees''. The main objective of this organization is to provide a non-political forum to bring together the widely scattered community of people of Malayalee/ Keralite origin and strengthen the common bonds of culture, tradition and way of life. WMC works towards an international brotherhood of Malayalees/people of Kerala origin to bolster their cultural, artistic and social uniqueness and give resilience and understanding towards other cultures with which they have to co-exist and interact. The Federation Of Kerala Associations In North America (FOKANA) is an umbrella organization formed on July 4, 1983, in New York City to unite all Kerala/Malayali organizations of the American continent. It was during the seventies that many Malayali organizations started to show up all over United States and Canada. Thus, there was a need to unite all these organizations under a single roof. In 1982, under the initiative of Dr. M. Anirudhan, a preliminary meeting was held in Washington D.C., which was chaired by the then Indian Ambassador to United States K.R. Narayanan. This meeting initiated the forming of this organization. Later in 1983, the first Kerala Convention was held in New York city. All Malaysia Malayalee Association ( ml, അഖില മലേഷ്യ മലയാളീ സംഘടന, Akhila Malēṣya Malayāḷī Saṅghaṭana) or abbreviated as AMMA is an umbrella body for the various Malaysian Malayali associations/samajams throughout Malaysia. The principal aim is to foster closer co-operation with all Malayali organisations in Malaysia and also with all the other Indian organisations for the betterment of the Indian community in Malaysia. The organisation was formed on 30 August 1972. From the beginning, it remain the co-ordinating body of the Malayali Associations of Malaysia, and continues to emphasise its commitment to education, welfare, culture and economic well being of the Malaysian Malayali community. The Confederation of Tamil Nadu Malayalee Associations, abbreviated CTMA, was formed on 12 November 1989 to bring all registered organisations of Malayalis in Tamil Nadu under a single roof so that a collective entity could be formed. The purpose of the organisation is to work out solutions to problems faced by Malayalis and to project and popularize the cultural and social identity of their native flavours in a different geographical area. CTMA is a conglomerate comprising over 100 Malayali associations across Tamil Nadu. Non Resident Keralites Affairs
The Non Resident Keralites Affairs abbreviated as NORKA is a department of the Government of Kerala formed on 6 December 1996 to redress the grievances of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs). It is the first of its kind formed in any Indian state. The department was formed in an attempt to strengthen the relationship between the NRKs and the Government of Kerala and to institutionalize the administrative framework. The field agency of NORKA is known as the ''NORKA Roots'', which was set up in 2002 to act as an interface between the NRKs and the Government of Kerala. It also acts as a forum for addressing the NRKs problem, safeguarding their rights and rehabilitating the returnees. Kurian Joseph (born 30 November 1953) is a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Previously, he has served as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court and Judge of Kerala High Court. Early life Kurian Joseph was born on 30 November 1953 in Manjapra a village near Angamaly. He was educated at St. Joseph's U.P. School, Chengal, Kalady, St. Sebastian's High School, Kanjoor. The Malayali people () (also spelt Malayalee and also known by the demonym Keralite) are a Dravidian ethnolinguistic group originating from the present-day state of Kerala in India, occupying its southwestern Malabar coast. They are predominantly native speakers of the Malayalam language, one of the six Classical languages in India. The state of Kerala was created in 1956 through the States Reorganisation Act. Prior to that, since the 1800s existed the Kingdom of Cochin, the Kingdom of Travancore, Malabar District, and South Canara of the British India.
