Geography Condon is part of the Upper Ross District and is the first of three suburbs along Riverway Drive. Townsville's Ring road runs through Condon with the Vickers Bridge across the Ross River (Queensland), Ross River connecting Condon with Douglas, Queensland, Douglas and the southern suburbs. Thuringowa State High School is also in this suburb. History Condon's first residential development was in 1968. It was named by Queensland Place Names Board on 1 March 1969 after the Irish Condon family (William Condon) who had settled on the Ross River, Queensland, Ross River and had a dairy farm. Condon, Western Australia
Condon, officially gazetted as Shellborough, is a former settlement and port in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Originating as an unofficial pearlers' camp in the late 1860s, the town was abandoned some time around 1930. Located on Condon Creek, the former townsite is 15 km east of the mouth of the De Grey River and 86 km east of Port Hedland; it is in the Shire of Port Hedland. Condon had its origins as an unofficial campsite established by pearlers during the 1860s. At the time, Mystery Landing, on the banks of the De Grey itself, was used by settlers to unload and load livestock, passengers and goods from ships. While Port Hedland had similar origins, as a natural harbour and pearling base, the denser mangroves in that area initially restricted its use. The origin of the name Condon is unknown. Located along the Swan River and Montana Highway 83, Condon is situated between the Swan Range to the east and the Mission Mountains to the west, providing ready access to the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Mission Mountains Wilderness, respectively. Its population was 343 as of the 2010 census. Condon is the site of a U.S. post office, using ZIP Code 59826, which opened on July 1, 1952. It is named for James L. Condon is a city in, and the seat of, Gilliam County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. The population was 682 at the 2010 census. The city, with an historic main street along Oregon Route 19, is a farming and ranching community. The John Day River/Cottonwood Canyon State Park, the ghost town of Lonerock and the John Day Fossil Beds are all a short drive from Historic Condon. History Condon was the southern terminus of the Condon Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1883, a local homesteader named Potter platted the land around a spring on his property. Condon (crater)
Condon is a lunar impact crater that lies on the eastern shore of the Sinus Successus, a bay along the northeast edge of Mare Fecunditatis. It was named after American physicist Edward U. Condon. It lies midway between the larger crater Apollonius to the north and the smaller Webb to the south on the Mare Fecunditatis. Condon was previously designated Webb R. This is a lava-flooded crater remnant with only low rim segments surviving to the east and west. There is a break in the rim to the south and a wider break to the northwest of the crater. The crater interior is nearly level, and mark only by a few low rises in the surface.
