Francis Condon
Francis Bernard Condon (November 11, 1891 – November 23, 1965) was a U.S. Representative from Rhode Island. Early life and career Condon was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island and attended the public schools. He graduated from Georgetown University Law School, Washington, D.C., in 1916. He was then admitted to the bar in 1916 and commenced practice in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He served as a sergeant in the One Hundred and Fifty-second Regiment, Depot Brigade, Twenty-third Company, from May 1918 to June 1919. He was also the Rhode Island department commander of the American Legion in 1927 and 1928. Paul Leslie Condon, Baron Condon, (born 10 March 1947) is a British retired police officer. He was the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police from 1993 to 2000. Education Condon read Jurisprudence at St Peter's College, Oxford and was made an Honorary Fellow in 1996. Career Policing Paul Condon joined the police in 1967. He became Chief Constable of Kent in 1989 and Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in 1993 at the age of 45, the youngest person to do so, stepping down in 2000. His tenure as head of the Metropolitan Police Service was marked by the Stephen Lawrence case, which became a major controversy. John Joseph Condon (9 September 1909 – 1 January 1967) was a former male tennis player from South Africa. In 1924 Condon and his compatriot partner Ivie Richardson competed in the men's doubles event at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and reached the semifinal, defeating the American team of R. Norris Williams and Watson Washburn in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal they were defeated in four sets by the French team of Jacques Brugnon and Henri Cochet and in the bronze medal match lost in straight sets to René Lacoste and Jean Borotra. Condon won the singles title of the South African Championships in 1926, defeating compatriot Cecil Blackbeard in three straight sets, and was a finalist in 1923, losing to Louis Raymond. Herbert Thomas Condon (27 February 1912 – 12 January 1978) was an Australian museum curator and ornithologist. He was born in Melbourne and attended the University of Adelaide. In 1929, Condon joined the scientific staff of the South Australian Museum; he was promoted to Assistant in Zoology in 1935, and became Curator of Birds and Reptiles in 1938. He kept this position for the decades through to 1976, broken only by a period of war service with the RAAF.
