"Condemnation" is a song by English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on 13 September 1993 as the third single from their eighth studio album, ''Songs of Faith and Devotion'' (1993). The song reached 9 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 3 in Sweden, and No. 1 in Portugal. The B-sides are remixes of "Death's Door" and "Rush", and some live tracks from the ''Devotional Tour''. "Death's Door" was a song from the 1991 ''Until the End of the World'' soundtrack. The original version, recorded by Martin Gore and Alan Wilder after the ''World Violation Tour'' was over, was exclusive to that album until the 2020s ''MODE'' box compilation. Critical reception James Masterton described the song as "a haunting, beautiful ballad of the type they do so well" in his weekly UK chart commentary. Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals and co-songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, co-lead vocals and main songwriting). Depeche Mode, originally formed by the lineup of Gahan, Gore, Andy Fletcher (musician), Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, released their debut album ''Speak & Spell (album), Speak & Spell'' in 1981, bringing the band onto the British New wave music, new wave scene. After founding member Clarke left following the release of the album, they recorded ''A Broken Frame'' as a trio. James Masterton
James Masterton (born 2 September 1973) is a music writer and columnist, his work focusing on the UK Singles Chart having been an online fixture on various sites since the 1990s. Masterton is also a producer for talkSPORT, and has worked on air as a presenter at the Bradford independent local radio station the Pulse. Music writing Masterton began posting his weekly comments about the latest singles chart on Usenet in 1992, while a student at Lancaster University, whence he graduated in 1994. In 1995 he became an important element of BT's Dotmusic website, an online hub for the UK music scene and one of the few sites that posted the entire UK top 75 every week. When Dotmusic was purchased from BT by Yahoo! on October 28, 2003, Masterton's commentary moved to Yahoo! Launch with it, remaining with the site as it transformed into Yahoo! Jack Dangers (born John Stephen Corrigan, 11 January 1965) is an English electronic musician, DJ, producer, and remixer best known for his work as the primary member of Meat Beat Manifesto. He lives in San Francisco. Career Prior to founding Meat Beat Manifesto together in 1987, Jack Dangers and Jonny Stephens were members of a short-lived group Perennial Divide. While Stephens remained a member for several years, Jack Dangers is the only person credited as a member of the band on every Meat Beat Manifesto release. ''Devotional – A Performance Filmed by Anton Corbijn'' is a video release by Depeche Mode, featuring almost an entire concert from their 1993 ''Devotional Tour'', filmed in Barcelona, Spain (Palau Sant Jordi), Liévin, France ( Stade Couvert Régional) and Frankfurt, Germany (Festhalle). It was directed by Anton Corbijn, and released in 1993. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video in 1995. The soundtrack was recorded in Liévin, Stade Couvert Régional, on 29 July 1993. This tour was particularly notable for the personal troubles the band members were struggling with at the time, most notably Dave Gahan's heroin addiction.
