Concepta Regan
Concepta Riley (also Hewitt and Regan) is a fictional character from the British television soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Doreen Keogh. Concepta was created by Tony Warren as one of ''Coronation Street's'' original characters. She debuted in the soap opera's fifth episode which was broadcast on 23 December 1960. Concepta is recognised as the first ever barmaid of the Rovers Return Inn, an occupation which over time became an important role in the show. Her stories include her marriage to Harry Hewitt (Ivan Beavis) and becoming step-mother to his rebellious daughter Lucille ( Jennifer Moss). She also gives birth to son, Christopher (Victoria Baker), and writers devised an abduction story for him. ''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. Bet Lynch
Bet Lynch (also Gilroy) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. Portrayed by Julie Goodyear, the character first appeared on screen during the episode airing on Monday 25 May 1966. Appearing over 25 years, Bet became a ''Coronation Street'' icon. Bet first appeared back in May 1966, but did not become a regular until four and half years later in December 1970. In October 1995, Goodyear made a permanent departure after on-screen Bet was unable to pay her debts and fled Weatherfield. She returned in June 2002 in what was intended to be a permanent return for the character. However, Goodyear quit after just two weeks in what was put down to the exhausting work schedule. Doris Speed, MBE (3 February 1899 – 16 November 1994) was an English actress, best known for her role as landlady of the Rovers Return Inn Annie Walker on ''Coronation Street'', a role she played from the programme's first episode in 1960 until 1983. Annie Walker (Coronation Street)
Annie Walker (also Beaumont) is a long-standing fictional character in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. She was played by actress Doris Speed from the series' first episode in 1960 until Speed retired from the role 23 years and 1,726 episodes later in 1983. Speed appeared as a guest of honour at the 30th birthday celebration of Coronation Street in 1990 which was hosted by Cilla Black. The character of Annie has been noted as "snobbish" and "snooty" due to her condescending attitude and delusions of grandeur. Mancunian (or Manc) is the accent and dialect spoken in the majority of Manchester, North West England, and some of its environs. It is also given to the name of the people who live in the city of Manchester. It has been described as 'twangy' whilst also being labelled 'euphonic' and has been voted as sexiest accent in England. Additionally it has been claimed Mancunian is one of the most desirable and friendliest accents in the UK.
