Arnave
Arnave (; oc, Arnava) is a commune in the Ariège department of southwestern France. Geography Arnave is situated in the Pyrenees and is served by Highway D20. The town sits in a deep valley between mountain peaks, the tallest of which is above sea level. Arnave was built on the banks of a stream by the same name. The source of this stream is at an approximate altitude of , at the foot of Mount Fourcat . It is fed by two other streams, the Ruisseau de la Sécaille and, further downstream, the Ruisseau de la Montagne. The former descends by way of Cazenave-Serres-et-Allens and its source is at the base of le Pic du Han (). The source of the latter is further to the north and on the other side of the Cazenave mountain, at the Lauzate peak. The Arnave stream is also fed by other smaller streams and springs. Arignac
Arignac (; oc, Arnhac) is a commune in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region of south-western France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Arignacois'' or ''Arignacoises'' Geography Arignac is located 2 km north of Tarascon-sur-Ariège and some 11 km south of Foix. Access to the commune is by road D88 from Tarascon-sur-Ariège in the south passing through the village and continuing north-east to join National Highway N20 at Exit 14. The N20 passes through the south-east of the commune but the nearest exit is Exit 14 just east of the commune. The town covers about 10% of the commune with the rest mostly forest and hill country with a few farms in the south. The Ariège river forms the south-eastern border of the commune and the Saurat flows south through the commune and the town to join the Ariège. Argein
Argein (; oc, Argenh) is a commune in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region of south-western France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Argenois'' or ''Argenoises'' Geography Argein is located some 12 km south-west of Saint-Girons just a kilometre west of Audressein. Access to the commune is by the D618 road from Audressein in the east passing through the centre of the commune and the village and continuing west to Aucazein. Apart from the village there is also the hamlet of Viellot. The centre of the commune is the valley of the Bouigane oriented east–west where the village lies. In the valley there is some farmland however the rugged north and south of the commune is heavily forested. The ''Buouigane'' river flows along the central valley east to join the Léz at Audressein. Arabaux
Arabaux (; oc, Aravaut) is a commune in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region of southwestern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Arabausois'' or ''Arabausoises'' Geography Arabaux is some 20 km south of Pamiers and 2 km north-east of Foix to which urban area it belongs. National Highway N20 passes through the south-western corner of the commune partly in a tunnel but it has no exit in the commune with the nearest exit No. 10 south of Saint-Jean-de-Verges. The D1 road goes from Foix through the south of the commune and continues east to Carla-de-Roquefort. Access to the village is by country roads - one from the NR20 Exit 10 and one from the D1 on the eastern border. Appy, Ariège
Appy (; oc, Api) is a commune in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region of southwestern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Pynarols'' or ''Pynaroles'' Geography Appy is located some 15 km south-east of Tarascon-sur-Ariège and 12 km north-west of Ax-les-Thermes. Access is by the D20 road from Axiat in the east passing through the village and continuing to Caychax in the west. Appy is a remote mountainous commune, heavily forested in the south and west, with the rest alpine terrain. In the north of the commune is the ''Etang d'Appy'' from which flows the ''Ruisseau de Lac d'Appy'' towards the south-west to join the ''Ruisseau de Caychax'' which joins the Ariège at Albiès. Antras, Ariège
Antras (''Antràs'' in Occitan) is a commune in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region of southwestern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Antrasois'' or ''Antrasoises''. Geography Antras is located some 25 km south-east of Saint-Gaudens, 20 km north-east of Bagneres-de-Luchon, and only 1 km from the Spanish border. It was part of the former province of Couserans in the Biros Valley. No district roads or highways pass through the commune and the only access to the village is by a mountain road (the Route d'Antras) from the D4 road at Sentein. There are few roads in the commune with some mountain tracks and unformed roads. The commune is mountainous and heavily forested. The ''Ruisseau d'Antras'' flows from the commune down to Sentein where it joins the ''Lez'' which continues to Saint-Girons where it joins the Salat river.
