Appy, Ariège
Appy (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ariège (department), Ariège Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie region of southwestern France. Geography Appy is located some 15 km south-east of Tarascon-sur-Ariège and 12 km north-west of Ax-les-Thermes. Access is by the D20 road from Axiat in the east passing through the village and continuing to Caychax in the west. Appy is a remote mountainous commune, heavily forested in the south and west, with the rest alpine terrain. In the north of the commune is the ''Etang d'Appy'' from which flows the ''Ruisseau de Lac d'Appy'' towards the south-west to join the ''Ruisseau de Caychax'' which joins the Ariège (river), Ariège at Albiès. The eastern boundary of the commune is formed by the ''Ruisseau de Girabel'' which flows south joining with other streams to join the Ariege at Urs, Ariège, Urs. Albiès (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ariège (department), Ariège Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie region of southwestern France. Geography Albiès is a long narrow commune oriented north–south about 25 km south by south-east of Foix and 15 km west by north-west of Ax-les-Thermes. It is traversed by Route Nationale N20 (E9) from Verdun in the north-west passing south of the village and continuing to the east. It is also possible to access the southern tip of the commune by road D522 from Les Cabannes, Ariège, Les Cabannes to the west of the village via a tortuous mountain route west of the commune arriving at the southern tip of the commune where it terminates. The commune south of the N20 highway is heavily forested and inaccessible mountainous terrain. The village can be accessed by the Rue de Nappy going north from the N20 highway.
