Combined Artistic Productions is a South African production company owned by Jon Sparkes, George Mazarakis, and Nomahlubi Simamane, a Black Economic Empowerment partner. The company produces South Africa's longest-running television series, Carte Blanche, for M-Net. The series started in 1988. In January 2010 two spin-off series were launched, namely, Carte Blanche Consumer and Carte Blanche Medical. In 2011, a further spin-off, Carte Blanche Extra was launched, which departed from the magazine format for a more behind-the-scenes reality format. Black Economic Empowerment
Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is a policy of the South African government which aims to facilitate broader participation in the economy by black people. A form of affirmative action, it is intended especially to redress the inequalities created by apartheid. The policy provides incentives – especially preferential treatment in government procurement processes – to businesses which contribute to black economic empowerment according to several measurable criteria, including through partial or majority black ownership, hiring black employees, and contracting with black-owned suppliers. The preferential procurement aspect of BEE has been viewed as paradigmatic of a sustainable procurement approach, whereby government procurement is used to advance social policy objectives. Carte Blanche (TV Series)
''Carte Blanche'' is a South African investigative journalism television series that airs on M-Net during prime time viewing on Sunday nights, currently at 19:00. It was launched in 1988 and has since earned credibility amongst South African viewers for its investigation into corruption, consumer issues and current events. The series also has received numerous awards. History ''Carte Blanche'' began its broadcast in 1988, anchored by Derek Watts and Ruda Landman. Landman left the show in 2007; the same year Bongani Bingwa became a presenter. In January 2010, two spinoff series, ''Carte Blanche Medical'' and ''Carte Blanche Consumer'', began. M-Net
M-Net (an abbreviation of Electronic Media Network) is a South African pay television channel established by Naspers in 1986. The channel broadcasts both local and international programming, including general entertainment, children's series, sport and movies. While the TV signal is generally encrypted, M-Net showed some programmes 'free to air' in its "Open Time" slot between 5 p.m. and 7 pm, until the slot closed on 1 April 2007. The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the ' ( FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The tournament has been held every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War.
