Colégio Marista Dom Silvério
Colégio Marista Dom Silvério, or CMDS, is a private Marist school located on the southern region of Belo Horizonte, in Brazil. Its courses go from pre-school to high school, which in the Brazilian educational system is usually identified with ages from 4 to 17. CMDS was founded in 1950, and hosts more than 3,000 students. Part of the school's finances were used for the seven-year-long construction of Marista Hall. Education in Brazil underwent multiple phases: it first began with Jesuit missions, that controlled education for a long time; then, two hundred years after their arrival, the Jesuits' powers were limited by the Marquis of Pombal; shortly after that, the Brazilian government took over education, which is now run by the government through the Ministry of Education. Marista Hall
Arena Hall (originally known as the Marista Hall) is an events centre in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, located on the campus of the Colégio Marista Dom Silvério. The goal was to create an environment with a great diversity of spaces. It includes a multipurpose room, a theater, an arena, courts, and a parking lot; this structure is suitable for a wide variety of cultural, artistic, and sports events, be it of a technical, commercial or recreational nature. About the centre Construction began in March 1997, and the original deadline was December 1998. However, this deadline was progressively postponed, and the building did not open until June 25, 2003. Carlos Alberto Libânio Christo (born 1944), better known as Frei Betto, is a Brazilian writer, political activist, philosopher, liberation theologian, and Dominican friar. Life Frei Betto was born on 25 August 1944 in Belo Horizonte. At the age of 20, when he was a student of journalism, he entered the Dominican Order. He was later imprisoned for four years by the military dictatorship which ruled Brazil for smuggling people out of the country. His incarceration was part of an ongoing series of attacks by the government on activist members of the Catholic Church.
