Colonia Federal
Colonia Federal is a Colonia (Mexico), colonia in the Venustiano Carranza, Mexico City, Venustiano Carranza Boroughs of Mexico City, borough of Mexico City, just south of the Mexico City International Airport. The neighborhood is known for its particular shape that resembles a spider web. History and design The neighborhood was built on the Llanos de Balbuena, land previously owned by the Braniff family, a bourgeois family living in the country (Alberto Braniff, the first aviator of Latin America, was a member of it). In 1908, the government of the country acquired of land. The government considered creating a cemetery in the area, but since it was located far from the Historic center of Mexico City, city center, the idea was discarded. After the end of the Mexican Revolution, around 1924, a prison was considered for construction. In Mexico, the neighborhoods of large metropolitan areas are known as colonias. One theory suggests that the name, which literally means colony, arose in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when one of the first urban developments outside Mexico City's core was built by a French immigrant colony. Unlike neighborhoods in the United States, ''colonias'' in Mexico City have a specific name which is used in all official documents and postal addresses. Usually, ''colonias'' are assigned a specific postal code; nonetheless, in recent urban developments, gated communities are also defined as ''colonias'', yet they share the postal code with adjacent neighborhoods. Cabinet Of Mexico
The cabinet of Mexico is the Executive Cabinet ( es, Gabinete Legal) and is a part of the executive branch of the Mexican government. It consists of nineteen Secretaries of State and the Legal Counsel of the Federal Executive. In addition to the legal Executive Cabinet there are other Cabinet-level administration offices that report directly to the President of the Republic (''Gabinete Ampliado''). Officials from the legal and extended Cabinet (''Gabinete Legal y Ampliado'') are subordinate to the President. Mexico City Metro
The Mexico City Metro ( es, Metro de la Ciudad de México) is a rapid transit system that serves the metropolitan area of Mexico City, including some municipalities in Mexico State. Operated by the Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (STC), it is the second largest metro system in North America after the New York City Subway. In 2019, the system served 1.655 billion passengers, the tenth highest ridership in the world. The inaugural STC Metro line was long, serving 16 stations, and opened to the public on 4 September 1969. Gómez Farías Metro Station
Gómez Farías () is a station of the Mexico City Metro in Venustiano Carranza, Mexico City. It is an underground station with two side platforms served by Line 1 (the Pink Line) between Boulevard Puerto Aéreo and Zaragoza stations. It serves the '' colonias'' (neighborhoods) of Federal and Gómez Farías; the station receives its name from the latter, which in turn is named after Valentín Gómez Farías, the 7th president of Mexico (he served intermittently from 1833 to 1847). The pictogram depicts a representation of the Mexican Constitution of 1857, which was promoted by Gómez Farías during his tenure as the president of Congress. It is an underground station with two side platforms, served by Line 5 (the Yellow Line), between Terminal Aérea and Pantitlán stations. The station was opened on 19 December 1981, on the first day of the then Consulado–Pantitlán service.
