Colm Callanan
Colm Callanan (born 18 July 1982) is an Irish hurler who plays for Galway Senior Championship club Kinvara. He played for the Galway senior hurling team for 12 years, during which time he lined out as a goalkeeper. Born in Kinvara, County Galway, Callanan was born into a strong hurling family. His mother, Mary Daly, played camogie and was an All-Ireland medal winner with Athenry while also playing for Galway and Connacht. Callanan first played competitive hurling with the Kinvara club at juvenile and underage levels. In spite of beginning his club career as an outfield player, he was eighteen when he became the goalkeeper on the club's senior team. Callanan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he was selected for the Galway minor team. He won an All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute in 2000 before later joining the Galway under-21 team. Kinvara
Kinvara or Kinvarra () is a sea port village in the southwest of County Galway, Ireland. It is located in the Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish of Kinvarradoorus in the north of the Barony (Ireland), barony of Kiltartan. Kinvarra is also an Electoral division (Ireland), electoral division. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. 2003 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The 2003 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 40th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. Limerick were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in their quest for a record-equalling fourth successive All-Ireland title by Cork in the Munster semi-final. On 21 September 2003, Kilkenny won the championship following a 2-13 to 0-12 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. Adrian Diviney
Adrian is a form of the Latin given name Adrianus or Hadrianus. Its ultimate origin is most likely via the former river Adria from the Venetic and Illyrian word ''adur'', meaning "sea" or "water". The 2000 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 70th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. Tooreen Hurling Club
Tooreen Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Tooreen, County Mayo, Ireland. Tooreen is located in the parish of Aghamore approximately four miles (6.4 km) from the town of Ballyhaunis in eastern County Mayo which is the county's hurling stronghold. Players are drawn from the Tooreen area as well as from the Aghamore, Ballyhaunis, Kilkelly and Knock areas. The club is affiliated as an Exclusive Hurling Club to the Mayo County Board. History The club was formed in 1957 and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2007. The club won its first Mayo Senior Hurling Championship Title in 1966 and is the holder of 30 county senior titles and is the current (2019) champion.
