Colin Lever
Colin Lever (born 4 August 1939) is a former English cricketer. Lever was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Todmorden, Yorkshire. Lever made his debut for Buckinghamshire in the 1962 Minor Counties Championship against Oxfordshire. He played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire from 1962 to 1978, which included 91 Minor Counties Championship matches. In 1965, he made his List A debut against Middlesex in the Gillette Cup. He played seven further List A matches for Buckinghamshire, the last coming against Middlesex in the 1975 Gillette Cup. In these eight matches, he scored 69 runs at a batting average of 11.50, with a high score of 20. With the ball he took 7 wickets at a bowling average of 43.00, with best figures of 3/19. Todmorden
Todmorden ( ; ) is a market town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Upper Calder Valley in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. Northern Cricket Club
The Northern Cricket Club, located in Crosby on north Merseyside, England, was founded in 1859. The original clubhouse was in Rawson Road in nearby Seaforth until 1879, when the club moved to Haigh Road in Waterloo Park. In 1907 the club moved again, this time to its present site in the picturesque Moor Park area of Crosby, seven miles to the north of Liverpool. By 1961, the cricket club shared its grounds with hockey, squash and crown green bowls, and in this year the four sports merged to form the Northern Club. The cricket club are members of the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition, an ECB accredited Premier League, and were 1st XI champions in 2005 and 2013. Central Lancashire League
The Central Lancashire Cricket League (CLCL) was a fifteen team cricket league, traditionally based in Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was then based in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire. The league ran competitions at First Team, Second Team, Third Team, Under 18, Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 levels. The league was due to expand to a sixteen club format in 2005. Monton & Weaste were awarded the extra place ahead of Bamford Fieldhouse, Saddleworth, Elton, Walshaw, Didsbury and Bury. However, Stand left the league before the 2005 season and their replacement, Clifton did not join until 2006. Heywood Cricket Club
Heywood Cricket Club, based in Heywood, Greater Manchester, are an English cricket team that plays in the Central Lancashire Cricket League. They were founded around 1879. Currently the team also carries the name of Biwater's, a locally based company who sponsor the team. Ground Heywood play their home matches at the Crimble ground on the outskirts of the town's park known as Queens Park. They have played here since 1921. The pitch at Crimble is said to be one of the largest pitches in Lancashire, second only to Old Trafford. Off Spin
Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right arm, right-handed spin bowling, spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball. Their normal Delivery (cricket), delivery is an off break, which spins from left to right (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the cricket pitch, pitch. For a right-handed batsman, this is from his off side to the leg side (that is, towards the right-handed batsman, or away from a left-handed batsman). Jackie Botten
James Thomas "Jackie" Botten (21 June 1938 – 14 May 2006) was a South African cricketer who played in three Tests in 1965. Botten was an opening bowler and useful lower-order batsman who played domestic first-class cricket for North Eastern Transvaal from 1957 to 1972. In 1958–59, he was the outstanding bowler in the South African season, with 63 wickets at an average of 10.53. In the match against Griqualand West he took 15 for 49, including a career-best 9 for 23 in the first innings. Nevertheless, North Eastern Transvaal finished last in the B Section of the Currie Cup. In 1963–64, he bowled unchanged through the second innings of the match against Rhodesia to take 9 for 29 off 18.4 overs and dismiss Rhodesia for 47; North Eastern Transvaal still lost, by 18 runs. Norman Crookes
Norman Samuel Crookes (born 15 November 1935) is a former cricketer who played first-class cricket in South Africa from 1962 to 1970. Career Norman Crookes was an off-spinner and useful lower-order batsman for Natal. On his first-class debut, in the Currie Cup in 1962–63, he took 5 for 62 and 2 for 48 in Natal's victory over Western Province. He was a steady performer over the next three seasons. Colin Bland
Kenneth Colin Bland (5 April 1938 – 14 April 2018) was a Rhodesian cricketer who played in 21 Test matches for South Africa in the 1960s. Graeme Pollock
Robert Graeme Pollock (born 27 February 1944) is a former cricketer for South Africa, Transvaal and Eastern Province. A member of a famous cricketing family, Pollock is widely regarded as one of South Africa's greatest ever cricketers, and as one of the finest batsmen to have played Test cricket. Osborne Avenue
Osborne Avenue is a cricket ground in Jesmond, Tyne and Wear. It was originally known as the Constabulary Ground. It is currently the home ground of Newcastle Cricket Club, Royal Grammar School Newcastle and Northumberland County Cricket Club. History The first cricket match was played there in 1887, though the first recorded match was in 1894, when Northumberland played a minor match against FGH Clayton's XI. In 1897, the ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Northumberland played Durham. From 1897 to the present day, Osborne Avenue has hosted 457 Minor Counties Championship and 24 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.
