Colin De Grussa
Colin Stephen de Grussa (born 17 April 1973) is an Australian politician. He was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council at the 2017 state election, as a National Party member in Agricultural Region. His term began on 22 May 2017. Prior to this election, de Grussa worked in sales and support for a large computer wholesaler, before undertaking an Associate Degree in Agriculture at Muresk Institute and returning to the family farm. De Grussa was the state president of the National Party from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, de Grussa was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship for research into how farmers interact with government for the benefit of their industry. Eyre was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia. It was in existence for three separate periods (1950 to 1962, 1989 to 2005, and 2008 to 2017), on each occasion covering large portions of south-eastern Western Australia. Eyre was a safe seat for the Labor Party in its first two incarnations, but during its third incarnation was a marginal seat between the Liberal Party and the National Party. History Eyre was first created for the 1950 election, mostly replacing Kanowna, and abolished ahead of the 1962 election. Labor MP Emil Nulsen, the former member for Kanowna, was the district's only member over the period, and was unopposed on two occasions. Roe was re-created for the 2017 state election, having previously been in existence from 1950 to 1983 and from 1989 to 2008. Central Wheatbelt is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. As the name suggests, the district is centrally located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Politically, Central Wheatbelt is a safe National Party seat. It was essentially an amalgamation of the abolished National-held districts of Avon and Merredin, although parts of each ended up in neighbouring districts. The Western Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Western Australia, a state of Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council.. The 2005 changes continued to maintain the previous malapportionment in favour of rural regions. Legislation was passed in 2021 to abolish these regions and increase the size of the council to 37 seats, all of which will be elected by the state-at-large.
