Cold Warrior (TV Series)
''Cold Warrior'' is a British television series produced by the BBC in 1984. The series was based around the character of Captain Aubrey Percival (Michael Denison), first introduced in the 1981 thriller serial ''Blood Money''. Moving away from the serial format of ''Blood Money'' and '' Skorpion'', ''Cold Warrior'' was a series of eight stand-alone episodes, which saw Percival dealing with various threats to national security. He was assisted by Jo ( Lucy Fleming) and Danny Quirk (Dean Harris) - the latter also reprising his role from ''Blood Money''. Simon May
Simon May (born 15 August 1944) is a British composer. He has composed many British television theme tunes, including ''EastEnders'' and ''Howards' Way'', and the music for the 1988 film ''The Dawning''. Biography Born in Devizes and a pupil of Dauntsey's School, May was a choral scholar at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a degree in modern languages in 1965. While teaching languages and music at Kingston Grammar School, he co-wrote a musical named ''Smike'' with a colleague, history teacher Clive Barnett and songwriting partner, Roger Holman. Following the publicity ''Smike'' attracted, May was contacted by the BBC, who televised the play in 1973, starring Beryl Reid and Andrew Keir. Murray Smith (14 June 1940 – 28 December 2003) was a British television writer and producer. He was associated with many British films and TV shows, including the ITV (TV network), ITV series ''The XYY Man'', ''Strangers (1978 TV series), Strangers'' and ''Bulman'', all featuring actor Don Henderson in the role of George Bulman (fictional character), George Bulman. Smith also wrote scripts for such series as ''The Sweeney'', ''Minder (TV series), Minder'', and ''Dempsey and Makepeace'', and also wrote several novels. John Pennant Roberts (15 December 1940 – 22 June 2010) was a British director and producer known for his work in British television drama. Early life Roberts was born at Weston-super-Mare in Somerset to Welsh parents. He went to school in Bristol and read physics at the University of Bristol. ''Blood Money'' is a British television serial written by Arden Winch and produced by the BBC in 1981. The series starred Michael Denison as Captain Percival, an operative of British Special Intelligence, who works with Scotland Yard to solve the kidnapping of the young son of the Administrator General of the United Nations by a terrorist cell. As originally written (under the title "Blood Royal"), the kidnapped child was a member of the Royal Family called Prince Rupert, but after objections by the real Royals, the character was changed. Leslie Osborne (composer)
Leslie Osborne (1905–1990) was an English television and music executive and composer of light music and themes for television and radio. As a composer, he wrote a number of lighter orchestral pieces such as ''Lullaby for Penelope''. In 1976, Osborne worked for ATV Music and was responsible for trying to get the company's catalogue airtime on BBC radio programmes. In that role, he met composer Simon May, who had then recently had a pop hit with his song "Summer of My Life". Osborne later introduced May to various other TV executives, and he was commissioned to write themes for '' Skorpion'', ''Cold Warrior'', ''EastEnders'' and ''Howards' Way''.
