Cojímar Fortress
Cojímar is a historic fishing village located in the municipality of Havana del Este, Cuba. Situated on the northern coast of the island, approximately 7 kilometers east of Havana, Cojímar is renowned for its cultural significance, history, and natural beauty. The town is famous for being the residence of the American author Ernest Hemingway, who lived there for a time and kept his fishing boat, the *Pilar*, in the town. René Touzet
René Touzet y Monte (September 8, 1916, in Havana, Cuba – June 15, 2003, in Miami, Florida) was a Cuban composer, pianist and bandleader. Career as bandleader Growing up in the city of Cojimar, Touzet learned classical piano from the age of four, and went on to study at the Falcón Conservatory in Havana. By 1934, then 18 years old, Touzet's classical training had to end due to his parents' financial hardships. However, as his jazz piano skills were, by then, clearly apparent, he accepted a job performing and playing in Luis Rivera's jazz band. Soon thereafter, he would become the leader of a 16-piece jazz orchestra, playing big band shows at the Grand Casino in Havana. He also began writing his own compositions; one of his most famous songs, "No Te Importe Saber" ('You don't care to know'), was recorded with lyrics (by Mitchell Parish) as "Let Me Love You Tonight" by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, among others. William Levy (actor)
William Gutiérrez-Levy (born August 29, 1980) is a Cuban-American actor and former model. Early life and education Levy was born in Cojimar, Cuba. Levy is of Spanish descent, his great-grandfather being from the Canary Islands. His maternal grandfather was Jewish (the origin of his surname, ''Levy''), although he grew up in a non-religious household. He was raised by his single mother, Barbara Levy. His family, including his brother Jonathan Gutierrez Levy and sister Barbara Gutierrez Levy, emigrated to Miami, Florida when he was 14. Cuban Revolution
The Cuban Revolution () was the military and political movement that overthrew the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, who had ruled Cuba from 1952 to 1959.
