Coghinas
The Coghinas is a river of northern Sardinia, Italy. With a length of , it is the third longest river of the island behind the Tirso (river), Tirso and the Flumendosa. It has a drainage basin of . The Coghinas's springs are located on the Alà dei Sardi, Mountains of Alà, in the province Olbia-Tempio; after crossing the Anglona traditional region in its later course, it flows into the Gulf of Asinara in the area of the towns of Badesi and Valledoria. In order to capture excess water for use when needed, and for flood control and electricity generation, two dams have been built, which have created the Lake Coghinas and the Lake of Casteldoria. Lake Coghinas
Lake Coghinas ( it, Lago di Coghinas, sc, Lagu Coghinas) is an artificial lake, in northern Sardinia, Italy, located in the province of province of Sassari, Sassari. With a surface of 17.8 km² and a capacity of 254 million cubic metres of water, it is the second largest lake in the region (second only to Lake Omodeo) and one of the major reservoirs in Italy. The dam, constructed under Fascism in 1924, is 185 metres long and 58 metres wide. It has the function of water supply, but also it has a hydroelectric power plant. The lake is the home of a rich ecosystem, and it is become a tourist attraction, around its shores are present a youth hostel, restaurants, a sailing club. Valledoria
Valledoria (Gallurese language, Gallurese: ''Codaruìna'', sc, Codaruìna, Sassarese language, Sassarese: ''Codaruìna'') is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Sassari situated at the center of the Gulf of Asinara, near the mouth of the Coghinas river. History Valledoria was part of the giudicato of Torres, and was later acquired by the Republic of Genoa, Genoese family of Doria (family), Doria. After the Aragonese conquest of Sardinia, the area was struck by plague which highly depopulated it. A demographic rise occurred in the early 19th century, when new settlers coming from Aggius and Tempio Pausania created Codaruina. Anglona
Anglona is a historical region of northern Sardinia, Italy. Its main center is Castelsardo. Geography Anglona is bounded by the sea northwards, from east by the Coghinas river, from south by Monte Sassu and from west by the Silis River and the Monte Pilosu. Asinara
Asinara is an Italian island of in area. The name is Italian for "donkey-inhabited", but it is thought to derive from the Latin "sinuaria", and meaning sinus-shaped. The island is virtually uninhabited. The census of population of 2001 lists one man. Alà dei Sardi ( sc, Alà) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Sassari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about north of Cagliari and about southwest of Olbia.
