Clontibret O'Neills GAA
Clontibret O'Neills Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Clontibret, County Monaghan, Ireland. History A team existed in the area, named after Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone in 1896. In 1906, variously called Clontibret O'Neills or Doohamlet O'Neills, another team is recorded. The current team is considered to derive from a 1913 affiliation to the Monaghan county board. Clontibret have won 17 county senior titles; their best finish in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship came in 1994, when they reached the final, losing to Bellaghy. Clontibret
Clontibret () is a village and parish in County Monaghan, Ireland. The village population in the 2016 census was 172. Clontibret is also a parish in both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland traditions. The territory of the parish also includes Annyalla and Doohamlet as well as smaller settlements such as Cremartin, Scotch Corner and Lisnagrieve. Location The village of Clontibret is situated close to the border with Northern Ireland, between the towns of Monaghan and Castleblayney, along the N2 National primary road which links Dublin and Derry. Parish Clontibret is a parish in the Diocese of Clogher. Vinny Corey
Vincent "Vinny" Corey is a Gaelic football manager and player. He plays for Clontibret O'Neills and has been manager of the Monaghan county team since 2022. Career Corey played at senior level for his county for 17 years, winning two Ulster Senior Football Championship (SFC) medals. Corey made his Ulster SFC debut for Monaghan against Armagh in 2003. He outlasted everyone who played in that game, except for an Armagh minor called Charlie Vernon, and is married to Joanne and they have children. He was captain in 2009. But he was not involved in the 2010 Ulster SFC final and he sat out 2011. He was part of the Match for Michaela. Corey started the 2018 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final for Monaghan. In 2020 he stated that he had not ruled out a return to Monaghan. Corey became a selector with Monaghan. Monaghan Senior Hurling Championship
The Monaghan Senior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by top-tier Monaghan GAA clubs. The Monaghan County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1909. Castleblayney Hurling Club are the title holders (2022) defeating Carrickmacross in the Final. History The trophy presented to the winners was the Blayney Shoe Company Cup (1945-1996) and now the Mick Quigley Cup (since 1997). Ulster Minor Club Football Championship
The Ulster Minor Club Football Championship ( ga, Comórtas Pheil Mhionúr Chumann Uladh), often referred to as the St. Paul's Tournament, an annual Gaelic football tournament organised and hosted by the St Paul's club in Belfast. It is played between the Minor championship winners from each of the nine counties of Ulster. The competition has a straight knock-out format. It was first held in 1982 and the winners are awarded the Jimmy McConville Cup. While unofficial, it is regarded as the Ulster Club Championship for club minor teams. The competition begins in late November or early December with the final taking place in January, typically on New Year's Day (e.g. the 2017 final took place on 1 January 2018). Derry clubs have won the competition eighteen times, more than any other county. The Monaghan Junior Football Championship (often referred to as the Monaghan JFC for short or the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship for sponsorship reasons) is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Monaghan GAA clubs. The Monaghan County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since at least 1918. Clones are the title holders (2022). Honours The trophy presented to the winners is the Liam Stirrat Cup. The winners of the Monaghan Junior Football Championship progress to the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship. They often do well there, with the likes of Blackhill, Emyvale, Monaghan Harps and Corduff Gaels among the clubs from Monaghan to win at least one Ulster Championship after winning the Monaghan Junior Football Championship. 2019 Monaghan Senior Football Championship
The 2019 Monaghan Senior Football Championship will be the 113th edition of Monaghan GAA's premier gaelic football tournament for senior clubs in County Monaghan, Ireland. Ten teams compete, with the winners representing Monaghan in the AIB GAA Ulster Club Senior Football Championship. The championship uses a double-elimination format for Rounds 1 and 2 before becoming knock-out. Scotstown are the defending champions after defeating Ballybay Pearse Brothers in the 2018 final, and will be aiming for their fifth consecutive title. The 2019 competition sees the return of Doohamlet and Currin to the Senior ranks following their promotion from the Intermediate competition. Doohamlet O'Neill's and Currin were relegated to the 2020 IFC after they finished 9th and 10th in the Monaghan SFL respectively. Rory Mone (born 1977) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Clontibret O'Neills. He played at senior level for Monaghan's minors, under-21s and seniors then off he went out to Chicago. John Paul Mone is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Clontibret O'Neills. He played at senior level for Monaghan and soldiered with his brother Dessie. He won an Ulster Under 21 medal in 1999. Conor McManus
Conor McManus (born 1987) is a Gaelic footballer who plays at senior level for the Monaghan county team. Often referred to as his county's best ever player, he is Monaghan's top scorer in National Football League history. After winning the 2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship with Monaghan, he was hauled down by Sean Cavanagh in sight of goal in the All-Ireland quarter-final, with Monaghan losing only by two points in the end. McManus was later named in the 23-man Ireland squad for the 2013 International Rules Series against Australia. He scored two goals in the second Test at Croke Park and won the man of the match award, as Ireland romped to a record-breaking victory. On 8 November 2013, McManus won an All Star at corner-forward.
