Cloncurry–Dajarra Road is a continuous road route in the Cloncurry local government area of Queensland, Australia. It is a state-controlled district road (number 7708) rated as a local road of regional significance (LRRS). It is a north-east to south-west link between the Barkly Highway and the Diamantina Developmental Road, servicing a number of cattle grazing and production areas in northern Queensland. Route description Cloncurry–Dajarra Road commences at an intersection with the Barkly Highway in , about west of the town. Starting as Cloncurry–Duchess Road it runs south until it approaches the railway line, where it turns south-west to parallel the line. Barkly Highway
The Barkly Highway is a national highway of both Queensland and the Northern Territory in Australia. It is the only sealed road between Queensland and the Northern Territory. Description The highway runs between Cloncurry and the junction with the Stuart Highway north of Tennant Creek, known as the "Threeways". The entire highway is part of the National Highway system: in the Northern Territory it is assigned National Route 66; the Queensland portion is designated as National Route A2. The Northern Territory section has a speed limit of along most of its length. It is the main transport route between Queensland and the Northern Territory, consequently many road trains use it. The Diamantina Developmental Road is a gazetted road in Queensland, Australia, that runs from Charleville in the south-central part of the state to Mount Isa in the north-west. Route description The road passes through the towns of Quilpie, Eromanga, Windorah, Bedourie, Boulia, and Dajarra in its 1344 kilometer length, and most of it is sealed. Some sections between Windorah and Boulia are unsealed. Mount Isa Mines (MIM) is one of the most productive single mines in world history, based on combined production of lead, silver, copper and zinc. Northern Australia Beef Roads Program is a suite of projects designed to deliver targeted upgrades to key roads for transporting cattle in northern Australia. In 2016 the Australian Government announced 18 projects to be funded under this program. This program is separate to the Northern Australia Roads Program, also announced in 2016, which contains a further 20 projects. Funding and program status Funding by the Australian Government is up to 80% of total costs, with the remainder being met by state, territory and local governments. Kuridala Township Site
Kuridala Township site is a heritage-listed mining camp in the locality of Kuridala, Shire of Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1880s to 1920s. It is also known as Hampden Township, Hampden Smelter, Kuridala Smelter, and Friezeland Township. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 12 June 2009. History Copper was discovered at Kuridala in 1884 and the Hampden mine commenced during the 1890s. A Melbourne syndicate took over operations in 1897 and with increasing development of the mine in 1905-06 the Hampden Cloncurry Limited company was formed. The township was surveyed as Hampden in 1910 (later called Friezland, and finally Kuridala in 1916). The Hampden Smelter operated from 1911 to 1920 with World War I being a particularly prosperous time for the company. Dajarra And Selwyn Railway Lines
Dajarra and Selwyn Branch Railways were lines in north-west Queensland, Australia. Along with the Mount Cuthbert and Dobbyn Branch Railways, they were essentially built to tap large deposits of copper discovered in the Cloncurry region.
