Clogherinkoe GAA
Clogherinkoe GFC is a Gaelic football club in County Kildare, Ireland, the first junior C champions to qualify for the Jack Higgins Cup final. They formed an area team with Johnstownbridge, St John's, which reached the semi-final of the senior football championship in 1978. Padraig Gravin was corner-forward on the 1998 Kildare All Ireland final team. Pat Tyrrell was a noted Kildare forward in the 1960s. John Lowry and John Donoghue were major players for the team throughout the 80's and 90's. Both played on the Kildare senior team for several seasons. These days the club now includes well known names such Aedan Boyle and Jack Robinson. Won an intermediate final v Kilcock in 2020 under the management of Ronan Quinn, Seamus Galligan and Jim Kelly. Carbury, County Kildare
Carbury (), also formerly spelt "Carbery", is a rural community in north-west County Kildare, Ireland. It is situated on the R402 regional road between Enfield and Edenderry, near the border with County Offaly, and includes the smaller hamlets of Derrinturn, Ticknevin and Killina along the Grand Canal (Ireland). Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Johnstownbridge is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Kildare, Ireland, Winner of three county senior football championships and Kildare club of the year in 1983. Football Johnstownbridge field a number of teams at all levels. They were the Kildare Intermediate Champions of 2013. Underage teams field as the parish of Balyna. Ballinteer () is a small southside suburb of Dublin, located in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland, extensively developed from the late 1960s onwards. The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare The County Board is responsible for preparing the Kildare county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling and camogie. Broadford GAA
Broadford is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Kildare, Ireland, winners of two senior hurling and 16 senior camogie titles. It enlists players from a radius of twenty miles from the Boyne bridge in Edenderry, Leinster bridge in Clonard, Blackwater bridge in Enfield and Barney Bridge in Allenwood. Mick Moore was selected at full-forward on the Kildare hurling team of the millennium. History Balyna (described in 1908 as the only purely hurling club in the county) and Moyvalley were affiliated in 1907. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Kildare Junior Football Championship
The Kildare Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Kildare GAA clubs. The winning club plays in the Kildare Intermediate Football Championship in the following year. As of the 2022 season there is an overall Junior Championship winner as well as a Junior A winner (competed for between the bottom four teams in the Junior Championship Round Robin Group 2). There have been various iterations of the competition, which started in 1906 as the secondary competition to the Kildare Senior Football Championship. In 1928 a Kildare Intermediate Football Championship was started for middle tier teams with the Junior Championship ranking below that. In 1947 the Junior Championship was split into A and B competitions with the winners competing for the overall Junior title.
