Clinton Whitelaw
Clinton John Whitelaw (born 24 December 1970) is a South African professional golfer. Early life Whitelaw was born in Johannesburg. Professional career In 1990, he turned professional. Whitelaw has competed predominantly on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Tour since then, where he has won three tournaments, including the 1993 Philips South African Open. He also played on the Canadian Tour during his early career. Whitelaw played on the European Tour the late 1990s, having won his card at the qualifying school at the end of 1996. He won the 1997 Moroccan Open, and went on to finish 54th on the Order of Merit that season. However he was unable to repeat that performance in the following seasons due to a recurring lumbar spine injury. In 2000, Whitelaw effectively retired from tournament golf, playing only a few events on the Sunshine Tour each year through 2011. The 1996–97 Southern Africa Tour, titled as the 1996–97 FNB Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 26th season of the Southern Africa Tour, the main professional golf tour in South Africa since it was formed in 1971. It was the fifth season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with First National Bank, that began in 1992. Changes for 1996–97 The South African Open became co-sanctioned with the European Tour for the first time, benefitting from an increased purse and world ranking points. Christopher Gary Williams (born 20 March 1959) is an English-born golfer who currently lives in South Africa. Williams has won seven times on the Sunshine Tour. Professional career Williams was born in Liverpool, England. He moved to Johannesburg, South Africa shortly before turning professional in 1978. He joined the Sunshine Tour in 1985, and won his first title; the Lexington PGA Championship, during his debut season. He has won six more events on the Sunshine Tour since then. Williams joined the European Senior Tour on turning 50, having secured conditional playing rights at the 2008 qualifying school. Ashley Trevor Roestoff (born 27 August 1963) is a South African professional golfer. He played on the Sunshine Tour, where he found success, winning seven tournaments between 1995 and 2002. Roestoff was born in Johannesburg, and lives in Randburg with his wife, Letitia and his sons, Travis and Connor. He turned professional in 1987. He attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Roestoff joined the Sunshine Tour in 1992, and won his first title that same year at the Fish River Sun Classic. He has found most of his success on the Winter Swing of the tour where he has collected a total of 10 tournament victories.
