The California State Open is the California state open golf tournament, open to both amateur and professional golfers. It is organized by the Southern California section of the PGA of America. It was first played in 1900 and has been played at a variety of courses around the state. It was considered a PGA Tour event in the 1920s and 1930s. Andrew Alfred Scott (born April 28, 1978) is a Canadian reality television personality, best known as the co-host (along with his identical twin brother Jonathan Scott (reality TV), Jonathan), on the TV series ''Property Brothers''. Mark Wurtz
Mark Wurtz (October 31, 1964 – March 25, 2020) was an American professional golfer. Wurtz was born in Yakima, Washington. He played college golf at the University of New Mexico and turned pro in 1986. Wurtz played mini-tours and the Canadian Tour before earning his PGA Tour card for the 1994 season in Q School. Between 1994 and 2005, he played on both the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. On the PGA Tour (1994–95, 1998), his best finish was T-8 at the 1994 Motorola Western Open. On the Nationwide Tour (1996–97, 1999–2005), he won the 1997 Nike Shreveport Open. Wurtz died at his home after a lengthy illness. Clinton Whitelaw
Clinton John Whitelaw (born 24 December 1970) is a South African professional golfer. Early life Whitelaw was born in Johannesburg. Professional career In 1990, he turned professional. Whitelaw has competed predominantly on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Tour since then, where he has won three tournaments, including the 1993 Philips South African Open. He also played on the Canadian Tour during his early career. Whitelaw played on the European Tour the late 1990s, having won his card at the qualifying school at the end of 1996. He won the 1997 Moroccan Open, and went on to finish 54th on the Order of Merit that season. However he was unable to repeat that performance in the following seasons due to a recurring lumbar spine injury. In 2000, Whitelaw effectively retired from tournament golf, playing only a few events on the Sunshine Tour each year through 2011. Todd Demsey (born May 27, 1972) is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour and 1993 NCAA champion. College career Demsey was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1995 with a degree in Psychology and turned professional. He earned All-American honors four years in a row while in college, from 1992 to 1995, and was on the winning American 1993 Walker Cup team. Demsey's college roommate was PGA Tour pro Phil Mickelson. He was inducted into the ASU Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Professional career Demsey played on the PGA Tour in 1997, when he made the cut in only nine of 27 events as a rookie. Rich Barcelo (born July 12, 1975) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour. Barcelo played on the Nationwide Tour in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2008-09. He was a member of the PGA Tour in 2004 and 2007. He qualified for the PGA Tour through qualifying school both times. He won his first tournament on a professional golf tour in 2009 at the Cox Classic on the Nationwide Tour. He finished 21st on the money list to earn his 2010 PGA Tour card. Michael Block (born June 15, 1976) is an American professional golfer. Having spent most of his career working as a club professional in Southern California, he received attention after making the cut and finishing in the top 15 at the 2023 PGA Championship at the age of 46.
