Clinton, Ontario
Clinton is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in the municipality of Central Huron. Clinton was established in 1831, when Jonas Gibbings and brothers Peter and Stephen Vanderburg cleared out a small area to start. Clinton started to grow in 1844 when William Rattenbury laid out the plans to begin making a village. In 1954, Clinton's population was 2,625 people. Today, it has an estimated population of 3203. Clinton is known as Canada's home of radar and there is a large radar antenna in the downtown because of its association with RCAF Station Clinton during World War II. Clinton was known as "The Corners" or "Rattenbury Corner" in its earlier days. The Catcher In The Rye
''The Catcher in the Rye'' is an American novel by J. D. Salinger that was partially published in serial form from 1945–46 before being novelized in 1951. Tim Grant (general)
Major General Timothy James Grant, is a former (retired 2008) senior officer of the Canadian Army and a current (as of 2023) senior civil servant in the Government of Alberta. Education Grant attended the University of Guelph, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science. Upon graduation he enrolled in the Canadian Forces through the Direct Entry Officer programme, becoming an armour officer. Grant is a graduate of the All-arms Tactics Course (UK), Command and Staff College, the Advanced Military Studies Course and the National Security Studies Course. Seth (cartoonist)
Gregory Gallant (born September 16, 1962), better known by his pen name Seth, is a Canadian cartoonist. He is best known for his series ''Palookaville'' and his mock-autobiographical graphic novel '' It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken'' (1996). Seth draws in a style influenced by the classic cartoonists of ''The New Yorker''. His work is highly nostalgic, especially for the early-to-mid-20th Century period, and of Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario
Northern Ontario is a primary geographic and quasi-administrative region of the Canadian province of Ontario, the other primary region being Southern Ontario. Central Huron Secondary School ('CHSS') is a secondary school in Clinton, Ontario. The school opened in 1866. Central Huron Secondary School ('CHSS') is a secondary school in Clinton, On. The school opened in 1866. Although High School classes had been held in the Clinton Masonic Lodge as early as the mid-1850s, it was not until 1866 that Clinton High School was formally established. In 1877, the original Clinton High School building was erected. It was a structure built in the Second Empire style with a centre block tower and mansard roof. Highway 8 (Ontario)
King's Highway 8, commonly referred to as Highway 8, is a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The route travels from Highway 21 in Goderich, on the shores of Lake Huron, to Highway 5 in the outskirts of Hamilton near Lake Ontario. Before the 1970s, it continued east through Hamilton and along the edge of the Niagara Escarpment to the American border at the Whirlpool Bridge in Niagara Falls. However, the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) replaced the role of Highway8 between those two cities, and the highway was subsequently transferred from the province to the newly formed Regional Municipality of Niagara in 1970.
