Cliff Pennington (baseball)
Clifton Randolph Pennington (born June 15, 1984) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) infielder who played for the Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, and Cincinnati Reds between 2008 and 2018, and who is currently the baseball recruiting coordinator for the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Amateur career A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Pennington played college baseball for the Texas A&M Aggies baseball team under head coach Mark Johnson from 2003 to 2005. In 2004, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and was named to the league's Hall of Fame in 2020. Mark Johnson (baseball Coach)
Mark Johnson is a Hall of Fame College Baseball Coach who coached the Texas A&M Aggies baseball team from 1985 to 2005 and Sam Houston State from 2007 to 2011. Johnson led the Aggies to the NCAA playoffs 13 times, College World Series appearances in 1993 and 1999, won the Big 12 Conference regular-season crown in 1998 and 1999, won the Southwest Conference championship three times (1986, 1989, 1993). 2012 American League Division Series
The 2012 American League Division Series were two best-of-five-game series to determine the participating teams in the 2012 American League Championship Series. The three divisional winners and a fourth team—the winner of a one-game Wild Card playoff— played in two series. TBS carried most of the games, with some on MLB Network or TNT. Jemile Weeks
Jemile Nykiwa Weeks ( ; born January 26, 1987) is an American former professional baseball second baseman and outfielder. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, and San Diego Padres. He is the younger brother of former MLB second baseman Rickie Weeks. He played college baseball at the University of Miami. Amateur career Weeks attended Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Bell's Palsy
Bell's palsy is a type of facial paralysis that results in a temporary inability to control the facial muscles on the affected side of the face. In most cases, the weakness is temporary and significantly improves over weeks. Symptoms can vary from mild to severe. They may include muscle twitching, weakness, or total loss of the ability to move one or, in rare cases, both sides of the face. Other symptoms include drooping of the eyelid, a change in taste, and pain around the ear. Typically symptoms come on over 48 hours. Bell's palsy can trigger an increased sensitivity to sound known as hyperacusis. The cause of Bell's palsy is unknown and it can occur in any age. Risk factors include diabetes, a recent upper respiratory tract infection, and pregnancy. It results from a dysfunction of cranial nerve VII (the facial nerve). Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for Schedule (workplace), roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Sacramento River Cats
The Sacramento River Cats are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and are the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Prior to 2015, the River Cats were the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics for 15 years. They are based in West Sacramento, California, and play their home games at Sutter Health Park which opened in 2000 and was known as Raley Field through 2019. Sacramento was previously represented in the Pacific Coast League by the Solons, a charter member of the league which was founded in 1903.
