Cleveland International Piano Competition
The Cleveland International Piano Competition is an American piano competition that takes place biennially in Cleveland, Ohio. The initial Competition in 1975 and the nine others that followed were sponsored jointly by the Robert Casadesus Society and the Cleveland Institute of Music to honor the memory of French pianist Robert Casadesus. As a result, the Competition was then called the Casadesus International Piano Competition. In 1994, a new organization was formed: the Piano International Association of Northern Ohio (PIANO). Prize winners of the Cleveland International Piano Competition have included renowned artists like Nicholas Angelich, Sergei Babayan, Angela Hewitt, Daejin Kim, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Kotaro Fukuma and among others. Severance Hall
Severance Hall is a concert hall located in the University Circle section of Cleveland, Ohio. Opened in 1931, Severance Hall was named after patrons John L. Severance and his wife, Elisabeth Huntingdon DeWitt Severance, and serves as the home of The Cleveland Orchestra. It is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Cleveland’s Wade Park District. History The Cleveland Orchestra first performed at Grays Armory in downtown Cleveland and later moved to the Masonic Auditorium for concerts during the 1920s. But both buildings also hosted other types of events that occasionally created scheduling conflicts for the Orchestra, including, most famously, twice when the ensemble had to find a location other than Grays Armory because of a poultry exhibition. Ran Dank
Ran Dank (born April 3, 1982) is an Israeli classical pianist, who currently lives in New York, NY, USA. Early life Dank started playing the piano at the age of seven with Yaakov Krantz. He went on to work with Liora Peleg at the Givaataim Conservatory, and from 1994 until 2002, he studied with Professor Vadim Monastirsky of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. In the years between 2000 and 2003, Dank served under a special musician status in the Israeli Defense Forces. From 2004 to 2005, Dank attended the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, where he received his BA in music, studying with Professor Emanuel Krasovsky. In 2005–07, Dank left his native Israel for the first time, to study at the Juilliard School in New York. Yaron Kohlberg
Yaron Kohlberg (born in Jerusalem on 6 March 1983) is an Israeli pianist. He won prestigious international prizes and performs regularly on major stages worldwide. Beginning in 2018, Kohlberg is the President of the Cleveland International Piano Competition. He is the son of Islamicist professor Etan Kohlberg and violinist Bat-Sheva Savaldi-Kohlberg. Kohlberg started playing piano in 1990. He studied with Luisa Yoffe, Eitan Globerson and Arie Vardi, and in 2009 obtained a master's degree with distinction from the Buchmann-Mehta school of music of Tel Aviv University. Martina Filjak (born 1978 in Zagreb) is a Croatian concert pianist. Biography Martina Filjak started playing piano at the age of 5 and held her first public performance aged 6. She completed her studies at the Music Academy in Zagreb, the Vienna Conservatoire, the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover and additionally at the Como Piano Academy. François Dumont (; born 19 October 1985 in Lyon, France) is a French classical pianist. Dumont is notable for winning fifth prize in the sixteenth International Chopin Piano Competition. He has also won First Prize in the Jean Françaix International Competition in 2007 and First Prize in the Steinway International Piano Competition in 2002, and is also a laureate of the Perlemuter, Clara Haskil, Hamamatsu and Piano Campus piano competitions. Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev (russian: Арсений Тарасевич-Николаев; born 21 February 1993) is a Russian concert pianist, born in Moscow. Tarasevich-Nikolaev's grandmother was Tatiana Nikolaeva. He began piano studies at age four. His public debut was at age nine, with the Bryansk City Chamber Orchestra. From 2000 to 2011, he studied at the Central School of Music of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, where his teachers included Alexander Mndoyants.
