Clermont UC
Clermont-Ferrand Université Club was a French multisports club from Clermont-Ferrand, best known for its women's basketball team. While the club was founded in 1921 as a rugby club, the basketball section was opened in 1964. It soon became the major powerhouse in the French scene, winning a record twelve national championships in a row between 1968 and 1979. In 1971 Clermont became the first team from Western Europe to reach the final of the European Cup, losing it to Soviet powerhouse Daugava Riga. Clermont-Ferrand Sports Hall is an indoor arena located in Clermont-Ferrand, France. It has a seating capacity of 5,000 spectators. It is used primarily for basketball, and is the home venue of Stade Clermontois BA from the Ligue Nationale de Basketball#Pro A, Pro A. Besides that, its also used for concerts. Iron Maiden performed here in 1982. It served as one of the playgrounds for the FIBA EuroBasket 1999. TTT Rīga is a professional women's basketball club based in Riga, Latvia. "TTT" means Tram and Trolley Trust. The team held its first official game on 5 November 1958. The next 25 years are known as the ''First Golden age'' of the club. Basketbal Ladies Club Sparta Praha is a women's basketball club from Prague founded in 1939 as a section of omnisport club Sparta Praha. Sparta was the most successful team in the Czechoslovak Championship with 23 titles between 1948 and 1987, and in 1976 it defeated Clermont UC in the European Cup's final to become the first Czechoslovak team to win the competition, ending the 12-years winning streak of Daugava Riga, which had defeated Sparta in its previous five appearances in the final.
